This so they can claim they are green? Or so they get energy at 7c K/W?

    • Yep, most likely they'll take the offset credit and auction it off to the likes of AGL etc. for a LOT higher

  • +3

They couldn't even give me free energy to take their beer!

Better off going with a provider that gives you a greater feed in tariff and then just buying your own carton of beer every quarter

    • Is there one? I get 5c from AGL did the sums a while ago and worked out better to stay put as I also get 28% Direct debit discount.

    • in the current market, most retailers are now at 5.2c/kWh FiT.

    • Yeah, 7c/kWh isn't bad at the moment. That's what I'm getting in Qld from Energy Australia, but it really depends on the rest of the deal you're on with Diamond Energy. If the fixed/usage charges are high, then 7c is crap.

      Also, terms note:

Be a residential property with a maximum of a 6kW DC solar system

6.6kW is a pretty standard system, so might make a lot ineligible if they're talking system size vs amount being fed back (capped at 5kW in Qld).

  • So do you still get your solar money too? Or is it just buying a slab from them for $30?

    • No your FIT gets turned into VB vouchers

Just use timers on most electrical items and burn the energy during the day rather than get stuff all for it. I use delay starts on dishwasher, washing machine and run pool pump during the day. Still have some feed in but better to use it than pay for power at night.

low feed in tariff and you have to go collect the beer? tell em they're dreaming!

Depending where you are. Most in SEQ offer less then that. The higher FIT are offset with much higher supply & import chargers. At the moment for me, I'm only getting 5c FIT because the highest FIT 10c at AGL would cost me 25% more

Of course if you drink VB, it's ~$50/slab so you're getting it for a 40% discount. So the effective FIT would be over 11.5c. Also if you're a pensioner, and get paid out your FIT (not bill credit), then that counts as income.

Also probably good if retailers start charging you to feed in solar, which has all but been approved by the regulator.

  • I saw this weeks ago, had a laugh and forgot about it. I never would have thought in a million years, that someone will post it here. Well here we are…

I don't usually watch commercial TV live, but saw the advert. I figure if people post about movies coming.to Netflix then this might be helpful to someone.

Boo to the goose neg'd you.

      • Boo to the goose who neg'd YOU in your OP!

  • Hmm, I wonder if this would work for me.

I'm am on the old feed in tariff of $0.60 per kWh until 2024 and no matter which retailer I use they have to honour it.

Could cover a few weekends of beer 😁

    • *Not be receiving government or distributor funded feed-in tariff

Guess that counts me out.. damn.
