Auspost Lost My Amazon Order

So auspost delivered My Amazon order to the wrong address and was unable to retrieve it.

It's heavy bulky expensive item and they delivered it without any sort of confirmation from the receiver.

They just sent me a generic apology letter and called it a day.

I spent days researching/waiting/hodling for that item and bought it at its lowest price on prime day.

Now the price has gone back up and won't come down for at least a year.

I got the refund from Amazon alright, but the effort of buying it all went for nothing.

Is there anything i can do? Curse you auspost!

yell at amazon for a gift card for the difference in price

AusPost will throw you a big G-F if you try and get any money out of those vultures with their Cartier watches

The receiver can't go to Australia Post for compensation - delivery agreement is between sender and the postal service.
Unfortunately, there's nothing the buyer can do in this situation. You can ask Amazon for credit to cover the price difference but it would be a gesture of goodwill on their part and are in no way bound to do so.

should have asked for a replacement from Amazon, not a refund…

Unless Amazon AU was the seller, they won't offer a replacement. BUT, they might refund the difference.

    Auspost Lost My Amazon Order

    Thanks for letting us know.

  • Talk to Amazon and they might be able to do something to make it the same price?

Amazon are great for making things right.

I've had a few damaged and wrong items on arrival, if small enough usually a full refund, keep it and may even resend another. If larger they will usually give you compensation as an option, ask for it and don't just accept first offer.

My cheapy prime day soundbar had a tiny but noticeable brown stain on the front, they gave me a $20 voucher after I said $10 wasn't enough.

In your instance ask them to match the prime day price and ask for a manager if they can't help out. Be polite but never hurts to ask

    • I second this. Always be polite when dealing with Amazon customer service, they are much more likely to give you what you want (without you straight up asking). Or at least that's in all my experiences.

    • How do you contact Amazon to seek those outcomes?

I recently bought a dog toy, was supposed to receive a 23cm one but received a 15cm one, which also had some faulty stitching.

The order issue process is an automated thing for me to return it rather than discuss the issue with anyone.

Amazon will usually direct you to Livechat > 1 year

My Bosch Pressure Washer had both carton damage and damage to the washer body (plastic dent). Used in once in ~1 year or so which is when I noticed it. Carton damage was intentionally concealed with Amazon Tape.

Livechat + images emailed through to a support email and was able to get a new pressure washer sent out + a return.

you should have asked for replacement from amazon.

You might have some good Samaritans in your area who will drop off the package to you. This happened to me, Amazon asked if I wanted a refund or replacement and I said send me another, then a few days later I got the original box delivered to me AND the package from Amazon.

Straight to eBay to make some coin 😂

    • yeah I've heard of people getting refunds for items that went missing, and then getting the item as well later on

      • getting refunds for items that went missing, and then getting the item as well later on

and some of these characters then decided to screw Amazon anyway - received the refund and kept the item. And the dude in linked post still think it's his privilege to defraud Amazon :o

        • Buying from Amazon US or UK is always risky, I've been screwed over by Amazon US before on electronics, got the refund easy enough but surely somebody from FedEx or whatever courier they use is keeping Amazon merch for themselves.

Vowed myself never to purchase from overseas stores after being burnt a few times, and you have to wait the 2+ weeks to get any type of refund plus that "next-day delivery" on 9/10 items AU store sells is just way too good if you want things fast :)

    • do aus post actually investigate and at least attempt to get the package back? if so, I would think they would have got it back if the good samaritan hasn't taken the package

      • Not in my experience, just an email from them saying "you will need to get a refund from the supplier, as we don't offer compensation on lost items".

They did this a ton during lockdown, passing the blame onto Amazon or whoever else was the supplier for "incorrect details" or "missing address information". They didn't care one bit cos they were completely inundated with deliveries.

      • It varies, when a parcel got misdelivered to us, my husband opened it without looking as I do a lot of online shopping. I was gonna rewrap and drop it back off but the postie came the next day to get it. But if it was left at the premises, the person could (or probably already has) claimed that they don't have it/someone else stole it
