  • Compatible with Home Assistant, but how about Homebridge?

    • +2

No need for homebridge, it supports Homekit directly

      • Right. I forgot that it should show all devices that show up in HomeKit, which shows all of my Homebridge stuff. Silly me!

  • +1

It's not compatble with Homebridge as it works with Apple Homekit directly

  • Hi OP, I assume these switches require a neutral wire to install? FYI to the wider community that most (but not all) smart switches need the neutral wire in order to be constantly powered. Not all switch points in Australia have that in-built, especially single brick internals. Happy to be corrected but learnt it the hard way.

    • +1

Yes, these switches require a Neutral Wire to work.

Lighting circuit without a Neutral Wire, I recommend you to go with a smart downlight instead of using Non-smart light + Smart light switch.

      https://www.lectory.com.au/Nue-Smart-WIFI-LED-9W-Downlight-K…

      • Adding neutral wire was about 350 bucks for about 18 light switches, depending how many lights you got might be cheaper.
smart downlights suck ass if you have people who will use the light switch.

        • Nice, not too expensive. Were some of these on single brick walls? I was told they would need to hack a line to the ceiling for each switch for the single layer bricks.

  • Anyone know if these are compatible with openHASP or whether you can flash these to support it?

I've got similar devices to these in all rooms - was looking for a 3 speed fan control to replace the final 2 x physical switches though and the brand I've been using (around $100 a switch) didn't have the 3 speed fan control modules when I purchased …

I much prefer being able to control the GUI properly and integrate with home assistand etc. I've got a multi-page layout so the switches can control nearly all devices in the house (have a page for each room) with a few extra for the air conditioner etc.

These are just Lanbon L8, they do work with OpenHASP.
PM me if you need more info.
      https://www.openhasp.com/0.6.3/0.6.3/devices/lanbon-l8/

However, they may not support fan control yet. Best ask in the discord group, they are very responsive. It may need to be controlled via either PWM pin or Power Relay?

If you already have Lanbons flashed, make your fan smart another (cheaper) way and control them via the other Lanbons?

My fans are controlled via RF controller and can be controlled via my OpenHASP page.

      • Thanks, I'm already using lanbon l8 with openhasp. I'll have a look at one when they arrive and figure out the GPIO mappings when they land. Curious how they will work to be honest, always quick to pull these things apart.

        Cheers.

        • The creator is super responsive (fvanroie) so I'm sure if you're technical enough and give him the info he needs he could include fans in the next release..but would also need the custom component to be updated also.

I'll be keeping an eye on the GitHub/discord to see how this progresses :)

  • and even an epidemic report

    huh?

    • Wow covid-19 detection technology has really progressed!

    • These are actually Chinese switches (which tech isn't) and the report is built into their fw/sw.

  • Are these Australian certified yet? Last time I looked into the Ctec range they weren't.. we are pretty keen to install them or something similar but not interested in risking voiding our insurance in the event something disastrous happens ☹️

    • Yes, these Ctec switches and controllers are Australian-certified RCM approved certification copy is supplied up on request.

  • +1

FYI to all, these are just Lanbon L8 that have been rebranded/drop shipped by CTEC.

They also can be flashed with OpenHASP

Cheapest from Alibaba, but still cheaper here ($125, unverified):

  • Can these be used with lights that have a loop switch?

    • +1

I mean, technically yes but it would screw up the on/off of the main switch if you turn the loop off the main would state it's on still.

Technically you're better off not looping in Smart switches, but have the second one not connected to the same L1 and have it smart control the main switch.

      • I will look into that idea Cheers
