I'm looking for recommendations for both an ice maker (ice machine), as well as (separate item) a standalone freezer - either standing or chest. I'm happy to do my own research but just want to know if there are any brands and retailers OzB recommends.
I have a spare fridge-freezer in my garage but want to replace it with a standalone freezer. Probably up to $1000 is my budget - the bigger issue than price and style is size and shape - needs to fit the space of my regular old single-width fridge-freezer (maybe 35x35 inches? - I will measure tomorrow).
For my ice maker, I'd like something which makes minimum 5kg of ice for regular home ice baths, as well as for beverages. Seems like there are some out there for as little as $150 but again just want to know if there are brands/retailers to go for/avoid.

If you are getting a standalone freezer, get a chest freezer. They are a lot better. I have a cheap Haier one that has lasted many years.
