    does 200k qantas worth $1750 ?

    • +2

value is relative and is driven by how you choose to use/redeem your miles. At OZB they are usually valued at 1c/pt, so 200k Qantas = A$2000. But it will fetch much lower value if you use them to buy Gift cards instead of flight redemption or even outright sale (against the rules of your QFF membership)

    • Depends how you spend it. You could book a business class flight to Heathrow from Melbourne which is worth $8k+

      • Cost $8k+ but fair value is probably $5k

      • Almost impossible to get business reward flight to Heathrow unless you have high status and book a year in advance (and even then it's hard).

        • which eu/uk city would be better to try for?

    • Unless you can find any reward flights available.

You can cash in 20,000 MR points for a $100 statement credit. So you get $2000 of value regardless.

    • You could sell them for 1c/pt, but it's against the terms and conditions and you could have your account banned and points taken. You could get more value by booking business reward flights, but they're hard to get if you don't have status and even then require booking close to a year in advance. Best value that's easily attainable is hotel bookings where it's around 0.8c/pt, so I'd value them at that conservatively (and hence not worth the annual fee).

  • Oops, that annual fee turned me off….

You can charge the annual fee as business expense. Do check with your accountant though!

  • I think the introductory offer is only for customers that don’t have an existing Amex card. Check before you join.

Or not a member of Amex for 18 months.
