    LEGO'S new territory. 😅

  • +27

Oh no, another Lego set I didn’t know was available which struck a piece of nostalgia as soon as I clicked into this post. Much like the Voltron set a few years back.

Didn’t know about it, didn’t need it, don’t need it, want it, and now need it… Thanks op 😔

  • +2

It’s cool that it can actually change from robot to truck

  • love how the video says "adults welcome" ahahhaa

  • +1

Kind of just looks like those $50 plastic toys you can buy of Optimus

    • +1

And comes in parts without assembly in the factory😏

  • This is smaller (in piece count and size) compared to the Voltron set, but the same price.

    • Voltron cheapest was $158 and you could get 10% off paying with GC.

  • +6

Looks a bit underwhelming for a $229 set

    • +2

a bit? it looks like a $150 set at the most, i wish i could say they were dreaming with the new price of $289, but people will pay that too, unfortunately.

      • Add to the list of things people are over paying as part of COVID. They are over paying for so much stuff inflation is breaking out and going to over pay on their mortgage too.

Won't what the history books are going to say about this period.

        • LEGO have been price gouging long before covid, they just used covid as an excuse to double their efforts.

i used to love lego, but i don't buy it any more, i love building it but i refuse to pay more than double what it's worth.

          • @[Deactivated]: What it's worth is what people pay.

It's all well and good to look back at Lego when they were going under and releasing Bionicles for like $10. Switching to themed sets basically saved them, and in times on inflation, those with better pricing power, increase prices :P

            • @TogTogTogTog: i've never agreed with that, because you are always going to find some idiot who is willing to get gouged even more than the idiot before them, someone is always going to be willing to pay more, that doesn't mean that whatever it is is actually worth that.

              • @[Deactivated]: You're trying to compartmentalise this to an individual sale/product/idiot. If that's the case, eventually there will be no dumber idiots willing to pay more.

The idea falls apart when you realise you're basing it on your value/worth of a product, rather than the market i.e - they aren't idiots if everyone is paying that price, you just think they are because you wouldn't pay that.

                • @TogTogTogTog: i'm just using your logic. if someone is willing to pay that much, that must be how much it's worth, right? lego could increase their prices by $100 across the board, just on a whim, and people would still buy it, it's not worth it, but they'd buy it.

they aren't idiots if everyone is paying that price,

debatable. plenty of people buy common cotton shirts for $50+, but a cotton shirt of similar / same quality can be had for about $10. it doesn't mean a cotton shirt is worth $50, it just means they're idiots.

                  • @[Deactivated]: That's your belief - roughly that a cotton shirt is no different except for the price // you can buy a shirt for $10, so paying more makes someone an idiot.

  • Looks like sold out.

    • i was going to buy it yesterday

      might wait some more lol

      • Hold!!

    • +3

LEGO use the exclusive tag to encourage you to buy from them at full MSRP.

Yet, almost all sets marked "exclusive" are either not exclusive at all, or are timed exclusives (i.e. the set will be at major retailers shortly after).

      • Yep I’m definitely not buying into the hype I’ll wait next time…so I say 😂

  • thought it would be lego exclusive…
    hmmm do i wait…..

  • Meh 289 - 20% is basically the same price. Not going to rush for it

    • except the RRP is going to raise

      • $289 is the new RRP.

        • This ^ and bigw will be lower then rrp and do 20% off

I was excited when I saw this but looks so clunky and out of proportion

Hopefully there’ll be a better looking version

  • 35 cm tall

  • Watch the purest Lego channel on the interweb build this set:

  • -1

  • +2

I got one from the Lego store on launch day in June (didn't pay full RRP, used the vouchers from prior purchases).

It's a fun build non complicated build, simple yet exciting as a Transformers fan. Love it as a display piece, I plan to get a second so I can keep one on display in robot form and the other in truck form.

    • +3

Same here. My son is a massive transformers fan (G1 only - no Michael Bay please 😁) and this model launched on the same day as his birthday. So guess who was up at midnight doing an online order at Lego 🙄

Our next project will be the trailer to go with the truck… https://youtu.be/VR75JMp8YH0

      • I did a binge watch of the G1 series dvd set (converted them for digital viewing), fun times. I'm aiming to import the 4K version of the 80s movie in the future (fond memories of finding the dvd a Kmart in 2002, did also buy the 2 disc special edition in 2007… and the bluray some years later).

  • i was on the fence but took the plunge earlier and ordered. didnt think this would sell out so quick

  • Hi OP, where can I find the price increase list for Australia?

Would like to know whether Starry Night is on the list and if I should pull the trigger now.

I googled it but the list seems to be different for each region.

    • +1

It's not really collated yet, they're doing it slowly and haven't revealed the full list.

If it's an adult set, it has a much higher chance of being increased.

  • "… You got the touch.. You got the power…"

  • Currently on sale on Aliexpress for $68 + shipping ;)

    • +1

Some people care about real vs fake though haha.

      • +1

Plastic surgeons are so good these days, it's hard to tell the difference!

  • so this is much smaller than the voltron set?

  • I just bought one, delivery to VIC. It wouldn't accept paypal but credit card worked. Wonder if the order will just get cancelled and refunded…..

  • Managed to get 2. Build one store one

  • +3

this thing is like the plant lego all over again…. at the start it got sold out everywhere and everytime some more came out. Now it's everywhere, on discount and you can get it anytime. Just wait it out.

  • back in stock @ lego.com

  • Is there a knock off yet on AE?

    • +1

Yes. It's AE, so there's also knock offs of the knock off.

    • Wouldn't touch AE with someone else's money. There are a few specific dealers of ko that are only worth dealing with.

  • I love this set. It is really well done and I love transforming it. I recommend this set if you are even mildly interested in Transformers. It is not just a display piece but a piece that you can have fun with doing different poses and configurations.

  • Thank god I missed it. I don't need to spend any more money.

  • +2

    Waiting for Rodimus Prime

  • I want Bumblebee!

  • +1

Bought mine from Lego store day One. Is it worth $260 back then? Moot point. Is it a good design considering it’s a fully transformable Lego set: absolutely yes. Does it look good with other OP figures: sure does. Is the quality of the plastic cheap: not at all.

So should you buy one: up to you but you should definitely not bash the design and the transformation.

  • My tracking with Toll is still showing as Booked for Delivery and hasn't left the DC. Anyone elses moved?
