What's This Damage Worth on Popcorn Maker?

Long story short, bought a popcorn maker off of eBay for $269 and it came damaged, reached out to the seller and they have offered a $15 refund but I feel this is light on. What would you consider fair compensation for the damage, just trying to figure out what I should go back with for an counter offer.

edit, based on the feedback have told the seller I would rather a refund unless there is a significant discount offered (I am thinking circa 50%)

Return it for full refund and reconsider buying a popcorn maker for $269 in the first place…

Unless you own a popcorn stall. In which case cosmetic damage shouldn't matter to you as will look worse tomorrow.

Who is making that much popcorn that you need a maker?? What’s wrong with the microwave ones?

    • Goods not as described according to eBay rules warrants a return and full refund

    What do you think?

    Me… I'd return it.

    Return for full refund.

Definitely agree with you that $15 is poor. Honestly I'd want $80-$100 off for that. Or like others have said return and get a refund.

Yeah, I'd hesitate on that amount of damage on a seconds one at $100 off. I'd just return it. Looks like whoever put it together did a crap job, I'd worry about the rest of the machine and warranty.

What was the advertised condition of the item when you bought it? If new, full refund.

Did the seller offer you $15 to essentially live with that damage?, i.e. you're not required to return the item.

Just buy popping corn, tablespoon of butter, and a saucepan with lid which you probably already have

Pan on Medium heat chuck butter in to pan when it melts, put in corn…

Once you start to hear popping hold the lid on and start shaking the saucepan on the hotplate (like they do with fried rice). on and off the hotplate for few mins and its done

I've always done it this way.. took a few attempts back in the day to get it right but works everytime

THIS! And it's soo soo much better crunch than any other ways.

What I do is put the butter and salt together as the first step, then put the corn in, I do it on high temp, I'll stir the kernels with a spoon, until I see the first pops, then I'll put and hold the lid on and start shaking the pot (medium sized one).

    • my mum used to use oil instead of butter and she added salt in the pan as well

Seller probably has no use for a broken popcorn maker. They don't want it back. And they also don't want to pay return postage. Tell them you want 50% off or you will return it. My guess, they will give you 50% refund.

Id also reconsider how much you actually love popcorn to spend 269 to have it

Since this appears to be a vanity type item that you use to show off to your friends that come to your house… I would expect it loses a lot of its intrinsic value as it is not meant to be broken. In its current form it is basically worth $50-100, like your typical popcorn maker of that size..

    • A typical popcorn maker of this size is worth a fair bit more, it's a commercial size machine (but not build quality).

        So confirmed, lol.

        Just return it bro.

  • Looks fooked.

  • This whole DIY Popcorn is impacting the
    Popcorn? supply/demand curve. lol

    What an absolute gimmick.

Stove. Saucepan. Done. There's your popcorn maker. Just saved you hundreds of dollars and all the space for that junk

  • I found a couple of those small popcorn makers in the OP-Shop going for $5 so I thought, why not
I used them a couple of times. Put one in storage, one in the cupboard, and I pulled out my big sauspan to make pop-corn. I am used to doing it on gas, this doing it on an electric hotpate is a bit flat, I still haven't got the hang of it. I read that 'pharkurnell' uses butter, I was brought up using oil, I will have to try this butter thing. If I try this butter thing, everyone will have to use an egg instead of butter or marg when they make mashed spuds; trust me
