Any Good Deals on Water Sporting Stuff ?

Stuff like water ski gear, knee boards, life jackets (to keep a person afloat in river) etc.

Where do people normally buy that sorta gear from ?

Primarily looking at a few Life Jackets like this one

Dam I regret not having bought the eBay plus deal of $59.99 massively discounted kayak, would have had been a great treat this summer.

    That’s notorious equipment.

    • It still was a great deal I think now, ended up getting cheap inflatable boat from ebay to replace that though (cannot carry more than 2 people and probably not as good quality as that $59.99 one)

If only the roof mounted RAV 4 kayak was inflatable - it would have been a very different outcome.

Thanks for clarifying - totally not what came to mind…stupid Netflix

  • There should be a surf, dive, ski style shop near you somewhere.

    2 tips:

    1. Their sales are normally just after summer.
    2. Don't cheap out on water safety gear (definitely get good gear on sale though)
    • Any particular shops or online websites (better) you recommend?

Or better to wait for like a eBay/amazon flashback Mega sale on ALL categories ?

I have a local shop that I support in regional Vic and it looks like they don't have an online presence so can't help out.

If you buy a life jacket it must comply and display information about which Australian Standard (AS) they were manufactured to. The current standard is AS 4758, which has replaced AS 1512-1996, AS 1499-1996 and AS 2260-1996.

That thing on eBay doesn’t seem to be any sort of approved flotation device. Hint - in all potentially dangerous endeavours cheaping out on the thing that is there to save your life is not a good strategy.
Go and buy one from Annie conned her, etc and try it on first.
For the rest look for second hand - plenty out there.
If you do it for a while you will get to know what you really want and then you’ll buy well.

As an aside, FWIW apparently your chances of drowning in freshwater are statistically vanishingly small if you dont have alcohol in your bloodstream. Unless you are a small child…. small kids are a worry….

Yup ended up buying from BCF today for $20 + a $10 Gift voucher (payed like 5 bucks for that), so $25 for a $69.99 RRP jacket
