Speakers Suggestion $500- $600

I’m looking for a speaker that can be placed in my room for some good quality music playing time. Ideally to be connected via BT or has its app connected to Spotify.

I’m currently looking at Marshall Acton or Stanmore. Anything around the budget of $500-$600 that’s comparable to them? I don’t have a big bedroom so don’t need anything too big.

Thanks!

  • Sounds like you have set your budget to suit the ones your have already picked. If you have listened to them and like the sound then go ahead.

Don't get caught up with professional reviews (or mine), as you are the only one who matters.

    Notes:

    • That is one speaker, sound will be mono, regardless whether it has stereo input (it seems people nowadays are happy with mono though ?, weird)

    • Better option would be to pick up some used speakers and a good Chinese class D Amp (Or my preference used 1970's amp). Most of the Chinese amps come with Bluetooth etc, Bookshelves can be had for a song second hand, and any reasonable ones will outperform the ones you listed.

    • yep agree with option B here - jump on AliExpress and grab an aiyama (or similar) class d amp with bluetooth and some used ~$100 bookshelf speakers off marketplace, and you'll be laughing. if you seriously can't even fit a pair of bookshelf speakers in your room you could look at something like a logitech megaboom, but you'll get much less performace per dollar.

  • Sonos Five have been that price, but doesn't look like it has been for a while. Maybe see if you can find any deals on one.

  • I think Marshall's have great sound quality and are a good pick! You could also consider:

    Audioengine A5+
    Sonos Five
    Denon Home 350
    Sony SRS-RA3000
    Ultimate Ears HYPERBOOM
    A soundbar?

Depends on where you plan on putting it in your room :)

  • Assuming you need active/powered speakers (vs having an amp)
    Jbl 305p mkii
    Iloud micro

  • Selby.com.au are having specials ATM
