Advice Needed on M.2 NVMe SSD

I am trying to choose a 1TB M.2 NVME SSD for my enclosure which is this one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09ZX4M255?th=1
I will be using it for media on my television and will have varied file sizes commonly 2Gb files but sometimes anywhere from 400mb to 35Gb files. Durability is important as there will be lots of writing and reading, so I want something that will last. Also fast write speed is what I am aiming for as my existing Sandisk extreme USB stick is very slow to write to.
I was wanting to spend as little as possible (this is ozbargain).
Would anyone have any suggestions?
I was thinking about the WD Black SN750
https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/716038
not sure if the PCIe Gen 3 will be OK with the enclosure.
was also considering
Crucial MX500
WD Blue SN570
Any feedback is appreciated.

The Corsair MP600 series is the highest TBW SSDs that I know of… the 1TB model is 1800TBW, but will not fit your enclosure unless you remove the heatsink.

    • Thanks for your help lordsnipe, it looks like a good one but I was looking for something around the $120-$130, perhaps the best out of those bunch. I will check out the TBW of some of those cheaper ones, now that I know that TBW stands for Terabytes Written. —-> I'm such a novice with these things. :)

Yeah you mentioned cost, but then also said durability was important. The WD Blue SN570 is 600TBW, so in theory, a MP600 might last 3x longer than a SN570 in the amount of writes, but not cost 3x as much.

        • Excellent point.

    Get the WD Black SN750

    • Yes I liked this one in my price point.

  • Anyone else know any of the cheaper ones $100-$150 with high TBW?

      I forgot about this mob
      https://www.adata.com/us/xpg/583

      • It also has 1280TB TBW

@patrick321: You mean aData lied on their website \00/

            • @the Unforgiven: I couldn't find it at first on adata website but now I see it. legitreviews may not be legit??? :0
Best price I could find is around $179, $50 more than the sn570. And my mind is changing again… Do I pay the extra $50? Take a chance on a company I had not heard of before? Decisions, Decisions.

@patrick321: I checked it on tomshardwares and it was what was on legitReviews!
I then went to this site:-
                https://www.techradar.com/reviews/adata-xpg-sx8200-ssd
                Read the conclusion
The above is an Aussie site, but it doesn't show TBW. Me, I don't care about TPW. Who the hell is going to write that much data to an NVMe? The NVMe usually dies around the same time as the warranty does; and that is what I look for (apart from speed & value)
I bought an SSD yonks ago, it was by aData, it was fine, but ran very warm; so I kept that name in the back on my mind; until I saw the SX8200 :) So I bought one, and I was happy. It comes with a 5 year warranty if I remember. Just get an SX8200 Pro with a 5 year warranty & forget about TBW
would you believe I have 218 tabs open!

                • @the Unforgiven: Wow the drives were more expensive back when the article was written.
It seems to say that the WD black gave better results but was more expensive (back then). Now it seems the opposite is true for the price- WD Black SN750=$129 and ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro=$179. Both have a 5 year warranty.
This is making me lean towards the WD black, especially when we forget about the TBW (which is what was making the ADATA appealing).

                  • @patrick321: I could only find the WD Black SN750 1TB at $169 & it has a 3 year warranty, doesn't the SX8200 have 5?
I have had both, I prefer the SX8200.
aData is a bit hard to get hold of, but once you do, they are a great company to deal with

I just went to PCCGear & they have the next version up for $185, so forget about the SX8200
                    Get the ASX8600 Pro 1TB with TBW @ 1280**
                    https://www.pccasegear.com/products/56692/adata-xpg-asx8600-…

  • I did find the Kingston KC3000 it is 800tbw for $155 here-
    https://www.amazon.com.au/Kingston-KC3000-PCIe-NVMe-High-Per…
anyone had any experience with this brand?

varied file sizes commonly 2Gb files but sometimes anywhere from 400mb to 35Gb files

If you do more frequent larger file transfers, any nvme drive without dram (such as SN550/570) will suffer terribly on average speeds. From the lot you have mentioned I'd go with WD Black SN750. I wouldn't bother too much with pcie 4.0 sticks for the enclosure you have mentioned.

TBW usually goes way up the larger the drive is (250GB vs 2TB one) for obvious reasons. I think given WD drives have 5 year warranty you don't need to worry too much :)

    Cheers!

  • Here is a list of what info I have gathered for 1TB-
    WD Black SN750 600tbw
    WD Blue SN570 600tbw
    Crucial MX500 300tbw
    Crucial P2 300tbw
    Crucial P5 Plus 600tbw
    ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro 640tbw

    • ADATA XPG SX8200 Pro 1280tbw (I think)
