Good Stores for New "Old" Phone

My wife's Nokia gave up the ghost and now she'd like to go back to a Samsung but doesn't need the very latest model/version.

Can anyone recommend stores that sell new (not second hand) phones but older models or models from a year or two ago?

eBay. Buy from the reputable stores with lots of reviews.

    • Can you recommend any sellers you've used in the past?

There are so many sellers on the site, so it's hard to reccomend any one or two. Sellers with reviews in the tens of thousands with 95-97%+ positive feedback are probably safe to buy from. Have bought a refurbed Samsung S7 a few years ago off eBay, still holds up well besides the battery which has been getting slightly worse and worse over time.

You would have to google the model you want to buy and see if any places have it in stock.

If Samsung, they have plenty of mid-range models for sub $700. If Android in general, Motorola makes pretty good mid-range phones. Here's an example

something like Oneplus 10r, realme GT3 neo, xiaomi k50, can all be very decent phone and are all cheap enough. You can install Google Apps on any of those including wallet, the only thing it lacks is Android Auto if you end up bought the China version, But very decent performance, better App permission control than samsung IMO (which means the phone will not lag for longer)

Or other slightly older models with snapdragon 870/888 and as much RAM as you can get, like OnePlus 9r.. I've recently got a OnePlus 9RT via Kogan, stack with the Coles MasterCard 10% off and shopback Kogan GC 2% cashback, it works out to be around $550 after all (sadly the price has increased since then), and I have got a SnapDragon 888 phone with 12G RAM, which works as fast as those newer Snapdragon 8Gen1(because 8Gen1 heats up and throttle).
