Stress Testing Acer Nitro 5 GPU. Should I Use Furmark or Does Anyone Have a Better Recomendation?

I have an Acer Nitro 5: AN515-57-54QC, 1980x1080 144HZ display, Nvidia 3060 laptop 6GB

How do OZBargain community suggest a GPU stress test should be carried out? Is FurMark a good option?

Cheers,

  • Why are you GPU stress testing for in particular? FurMark is indeed one of the most widely used ones.

    • I've heard some Nitro models suffer from overheating/frame loss when under gaming stress. Trying to figure out if mine is one of those.

So, should I put it under the test with the following variables?

      1980x1080,
      anti-alisiaing set to off.
      thirty minutes?

What would be the PASS result? 90 degrees centigrade GPU temperature, with ten percent frame loss compared to when the GPU is cold?

      • Consider also Prime95 it has a combined CPU/GPU torture test!
But keep in mind it is real TORTURE, the workload is far far more than any "game" will put on the system :/

  • Use the same tests as Tom's Hardware use for their GPU testing.

  • Well, if it helps, I have the same laptop, but with a 3060 instead of 3050. Overheats within 1-2 hours with a game, and youtube on background.

    • I have 3060 as well.

      Is it AN515-57-54QC (NH.QEUSA.007) ?

      • ahh, yes. just mildly panicking after searching the code on the HN site which had AN515-57-52E0 instead

i guess it's just a small typo on the HN site

        • Do you have Thunderbolt 4?

AN515-57-54QC (NH.QEUSA.007) shouldn't, but Harvey Norman ad says it has Thunderbolt!

          • @[Deactivated]: none that i can see. I'd probably disregard hn and just refer to the actual acer website

    • Did it have frame loss when it overheated?

Also what was the GPU temp when it was in the overheating state?

      Thanks

      • sometimes frame does drop, though from what ive currently witnessed, it dropped from 120fps capped to 80-90

as for when its overheating, temps were 85-90 for the cpu and 78-80 for gpu, this was with the fans on auto with coolboost

        • Isn't it kinda normal though?

          Depends on the game.
