Macquarie University Library - Poor Phone & Internet Reception for Visitors

Hi

I am a visitor at the Mac Uni library and have started going there to study, as I like their focused study spaces.

However I get very poor phone reception (Vodafone and Telstra) and I can't access the internet. Visitors and community members are not allowed to use Wi-Fi - is there anything else I can try / buy?

I do see HSC / school students at the library and they seem to be able to access the internet.

  Students have eduroam account. They can use WiFi at participating campuses with eduroam.

    Thanks for this info - my education provider is now with eduroam and i can use Mac uni library.
    1 question though - is there any other library that is in the ryde area, that has focused study spaces the ones that block you from seeing others and you are fully focused on your book.
    Library now closes at 5pm on sat and sun and wondering if there is another place to go to.

  Stop leeching off someone else's university.

  When i was at mine, I had a huge issue with randoms from other universities and high school students filling up our study spaces from noise to lack of space.

  Should've seen the flak they copped when they started locking them out past 6pm, was glorious.
  They struggled to get it that it's a private institution not a public space/library.

  Maybe to keep freeloaders out is why they ensure that there is Poor Phone & Internet Reception for Visitors.

  You mention Vodafone and Telstra failing, maybe get your hands on a cheap Optus starter sim and see how they go?

    It's a common fact amongst Mac Uni students that Optus has poor reception as well even though Optus head office is literally down the road

      Maybe the physical size of Optus' head office building is blocking reception ; P

  Also just a thought, do you get 4G or 3G? I've been in areas where forcing 3G only mode got a more reliable signal than the weak 4G signal the phone was trying to cling on to
