Taking photo of Venus Transit, What kit do I need to meet minimum but effective photos?

I'm very interested in taking some shots of the Venus Transit that's happening on Wednesday.

I don't want to spend much since I'm a bit broke at the moment. Was wondering if anyone can recommend what to buy to get decent photo's?

I was gonna use my Canon 600D with 90mm - 300mm lens but I'm sure that's not gonna cut it unless I use a telescopic attachment and some sorta solar filter which will cost a lot.

I've heard that buying a telescope with a filter and using that to take shots with just a normal digicam? I've got Sony's DSC-W570 if the telescope thing is do-able

I also have a Sony Handycam HDR-XR150 for video if some recommends that instead of photo's if its a cheaper alternative.

Any help would be grateful.

  • The two issues you will have are 1) getting a suitable filter, 2) finding a way to mount camera on telescope. Neither of those will be cheap and you are way out of time to get organised.
