Best Way to Get a Good Price on Dr Martens? (Sub $150)

I'm on a mission to camp for a bloody bargain for dr martens. I generally don't spend much over $100 on my shoes cause I get deals so the usual 'sale' price of 250-ish is hard to stomach for me, but it is a boot I'd totally like to get.

Specifically, I'm looking for their Mono Leather Chelsea Boots, but am finding a hard time being aware of discounts on them (esp since there aren't many deals posted here on ozb for them)

I'm not the most experienced fashion purchaser so any advice on discount stacking/bargain hunting on boots would be handy even if you didn't have advice for dr martens specifically 💡 thanks again for reading

i haven't got any advice, but why dr martens? from what i've heard, their quality has gone downhill while their price tag has gone uphill

    Is this the right boot?

If you select UK as the website up the top right and select Australia as Delivery Location, then put FAB25 coupon, it'll be 95 GBP, or $166 AUD. Cheapest I could find currently.

    • Thanks bought 1 now waiting for months for decent price on dr martens

    • Good find! Wanted the ones with the black rubber but this is pretty gud

I bought a pair of Unisex 1461 Smooth DMC Shoes from the Iconic when they had a sale on, combined this with an upsized cash back offer of $25 from Cashreewards. The shoes went from $239 RRP to $147.30 which with the $25 off, ended up costing $122.30. Not sure if they sell the specific boots you mentioned. It is worthwhile looking for upsized cashback offers for these types of retailers (Platypus and HypeDC also spring to mind).

Pretty rare to get good discounts outside the main styles. I had a particular boot and colour in mind so just paid up to import from UK.

I bought some Blundstone's last year though and I wear them a lot more. More comfortable and easier to get around in.

Absolutely do not buy new Docs. If you can get second hand ones that were actually made in England, do that.

Otherwise, go to Solovair. They were the manufacturer of Docs before they went offshore.

The quality of Solovair is what we expect of the quality of Docs, except since Docs went offshore, they just do not last like they used to. Their soles fall apart after 2-5 years (depending on use).

I generally don't spend much over $100 on my shoes

Your shoes can have an incredible impact on a lot of your body. Bad shoes can really hurt you. Spending a bit more money on good shoes that will not only last ideally decades, but will also prevent you from needing physio, is a good investment.

    • Good advice. Ty so much for the solovair shout! Thoughts on boots vs sneakers re comfort? All of my shoes are sneakers and I always get them on sale, so they've done me well, finding it hard to invest 300+ into a boot 😅

        No worries at all :)

The great thing about boots is there are some situations where sneakers may not be appropriate, but a nice pair of boots is.

If sounds like if you do have a lot of sneakers, boots will complement your selection - and they should last for years, so you’ll always have them there for when sneakers won’t be appropriate.
