  • What's the camera like, is it anywhere near say the S21?

    • +2

      Nope this is budget phone

    • +1

      Short answer, no.

It's decent enough for the price and provides plenty of usable shots, even further improved by using a gcam port.

But no, it's not comparable to a flagship that used to retail for over $1,000 and at it's cheapest is still around $600.

    • Wondering about this to, if it would be comparable or better than my Poco X3 NFC camera

Edit: purely going by this comparison I'd say the X4 Pro camera is slightly better

  • I was surprised to get some SMS spam from Hekka the other day, my Poco classed it as spam and it ended up straight in spam & blocked folder, lol

(I didn't make an account with them, I used Paypal checkout, they must have harvested my phone number from there)

    • I have never received SMS spam from them but I'll feed it back to them.

I purchased this back in April:
        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/694303

The message was along the lines:
"Hey, We've missed you! To bring you back enjoy $10 off with code: VIPAD10"

Feel free to try the code, lol…

    Miui software No thanks .

    • Many better custom ROMs out there…

    • Why?

      • -2

They are so poor. They need to put adds in their apps. Not like recommended products but Google adds.

        Still I don't care

        • You can turn them off easily.

Someone obviously hasn't kept up with the times.

    • +6

What's wrong with Miui? I've got a Poco X3 Pro and have no problems with it.

      • +5

I'm the same, I disabled the ads on my X3 Pro when I first got it so there's been no issues there, and in general I have nothing bad to say about it, great phone for the money IMO… (8GB/256GB = $300ish)

        Guide to disable ads:
        https://www.androidauthority.com/remove-ads-xiaomi-miui-1019…
There's plenty of other guides around…

      • +1

I have posted many times that miui 13 update stuffed my new Xiaomi phone and they don't have any support I have spent months trying to fix it and the Xiaomi support site has hundreds of complaints about MIUI software causing massive faults that Xiaomi don't fix .Do your research first .

        • +3

That sucks… My Poco seems fine on 12.5.5 so I haven't done the update to 13…

          • +1

            @FLICKIT: My advice don't update .

          • +2

@FLICKIT: I'm running Miui 13.0.14 and it's great. The update improved the camera dramatically, especially in low light. Zero problems.

        • +1

I've used Xiaomi phones since 2016. Miui had it's fair share of bugs for years but it got better slowly with time.

Up until 12.5 enhanced edition it could be a bit of a shit show I agree. But I've had no issues on miui 13 on my Poco F3.

      • +3

Same here. I have redmi note 11 pro 5g and i have no problems with Miui. People say ads, what ads. I don't have any annoying pop-up ads. Camera is pretty good too. I like xiaomi phones, bang of buck.

        • +3

MIUI 12.1.4 on my Xiaomi Mi 9T and never ever had an ad for the 2 years I've had it.

          • +1

@khrome: I think most people that whinge and bitch about the phantom ads have never used Miui. Lol

            • +1

@mckayver: Yeah they probably heard it through a friend of a friend haha

      • +2

TBH my I used my X3 pro 8/256 for a year and had no problems at all. Bought it for 315 and sold it after one year for 375.
X4 is no way near it.

        • agreed. Xiaomi model numbering system is odd. I believe the F 3 or F4 series would follow the X3 pro.

  • Is this a Hekka-va deal?

  • +5

Anyone notice there is not much of mobile phone deals?

    • +2

Yeah, I've noticed. Right when I'm looking to replace mine haha

      • +2

Same here mate, it's hard to find bargains now

  • I don't know after some horror stories with Poco x3 pro pmic issue, I won't be buying a Poco phone any time soon

    • What problem is that? I've got that exact phone and haven't noticed any issues.

Read some of the comments, you'll find others with global version phone hard bricked due to pmic

        • Is it cheaper to buy POCO from India? I've bought mine from Aliexpress which is straight from the source, which I think would be cheaper. Why would people be buying an Indian version of the phone?

          • +1

@clubhonda: The Indian ones have never appeared here on OzB, I assume they're only sold in India… I believe the global version was made in China and the Indian version made in India, the Indian version seems to have more issues, I dont know if it's a manufacturing defect, or maybe that factory was sent a dodgy batch of PMIC chips from China, or maybe it's just the hot climate in India that contributes…. I've also read the ones manufactured around April 2021 have the issue more than others…

Last year when I first looked at the Poco people seemed to think it was an issue with the soldering, if they overheat the solder joints would get dodgy… … I wonder if the issue is due to their PMIC chip (Power management integrated circuit) not really being able to handle the amount of power they're putting through them…

Personally I'm not bothered by it, I dont really hammer mine, I only use it as a phone and in the car/boat/hiking for running mapping and marine chart software, and occasional SD videos, nothing particularly demanding or power hungry… I also purchased it from Amazon with a 2yr warranty so hopefully if I do have issues I'll be covered…

    • Is that the issue people were having with the Indian made version, it seemed to happen when they get too hot, watching vids while fast-charging and such?

      • Yeah mainly Indian version but heard a few global versions have problem also.

I've had my poco x3 pro now for about a year and I've had few issues with touch screen that have me worried as it is one of the faulty pmic symptoms.

I'm hoping new flash to a12 will fix the issue, won't know I only just flashed the phone yesterday with aarow is a12, was too lazy to backup all data but phone touch has been really bad the past 2 months.

I was gonna try and recalibrate pmic but seems complicated

        • I had touch issues but once I flashed NoGravity it all went away.

Now to fix my random reboot issue…

          • @V1p3r: Why don't you try aarow os, flash with latest TWRP the aarow recovery is terrible imo

  • +1

Is this line or the 'F' line of POCO phones better? I have an F1 and it was great value for the features at the time but now looking to upgrade.

Wondering whether to go for the new one or spend more cash and get something with a bigger brand-name. Camera is the top priority, the F1 was fantastic, better than my partner's iPhone.

  • F is for Flagship … Not sure that it actually is a flagship, but it's the top of the line in the Poco range.

  • +5

    I seriously don't recommend Hekka.

Don't expect any support if anything happens with your device.

"Customer Support" arent responding to my emails regarding my Anbernic RG351V a roughly $90 purchase. It's been over two weeks and I'm getting all sorts of excuses.

    You have been warned!

    • Hi Circly,

      This is Becky from Hekka.

I am sorry for the inconvenience that brought to you.
Could you pls PM for details so I can better solve it for you?

Isn't Poco a Chinese brand whom are threatening Australia ETC . CCP .

    • -2

You'd be disappointed to know that OzBargain is predominantly made up of Chinese-Australians.

      • +3

What's Chinese Australians got to do with CCP?

        • +3

What's Poco go to do with the CCP?

          • -2

@Clear: As far as I know not much as they aren't owned by the CCP (publicly owned).

      • Must be the vocal Slav minority that skews perception….

    • +8

Don't bring stupid politics into ozbargain. I'd even buy Russian goods if they're a bargain. If you like to talk politics go to some political channel instead, shoo shoo

  • +1

Any good deals on the POCO F4 5G (8GB+256GB)?

  • how is this phone compare to the Xiaomi Note10 Pro? Is it any better?

  • Pity not the F3/4, doesn't seem much point going from x3 to x4

  • I am a light to moderate non gamer phone user, owned Xiaomi Poco X4 pro unmodified since April, now version MIUI Global 13.0.14, no problems at all and represents reasonable value.
My main criteria were crisp & responsive display - amoled. Long battery uptime. Quick 30 minute low to full recharge. Upto date camera. Snapdragon cpu. Reasonable build quality. Main use google, you tube, calls & txt, gps. ( thank goodness Bangladesh make jeans with 7" front pockets).
