Is my crown infected?

Greetings OzDoctors.

It's the weekend so unfortunately I can't call my dentist up and unfortunately google doesn't seem to have an answer for my question so hopefully someone might be able to help me out.

On Monday I got a gold dental crown put in right at the back bottom left. I went back yesterday to have some excess glue that was annoying me to be grinded smooth.

Today and during last night my tooth feels really warm and I'm wondering if this is normal for a gold crown and it's healing or whether it's likely I have an infection? It's not hurting yet so I'm unsure what way this is going to go. Anyone been in this situation and can lend advice would be appreciated and whether gold crown usually feel warm since they are metal?

Thank you

Why would I go to another dentist when I already have one and this isn't an urgent problem. But thanks for your Google recommendation. I'll definitely take that on board….

      • I know you have a Dentist.
        They don't do Saturday…

        Find one that does.
        Do the Math.

        this isn't an urgent problem.

Everything about this thread says you believe otherwise :P

      • Non urgent and the first thing you did is to post about it….. So 1+1 != 2?

  • You can go to any dentist open on the weekend and get them to xray it and see if the base is infected. Have to pay weekend rates. It may be just settling in.

I'd wait and call them on Monday, you'll know when it's infected, the tooth might be just healing now.

My wisdom tooth got infected, it was extremely painful to the point painkillers didn't work, they cleaned it out and then booked me in to get them removed.

Then that got infected, my swelling was not going down, I had a red area run down my neck. I had to go back to the hospital and push the infection out and be on antibiotics, it's as gross and painful as it sounds.

So it doesn't sound like you are even close to that yet, let it heal, and speak to them Monday if still concerned or it worsens. If it rapidly declines, go to a GP even.
