ANZ not getting enough value by giving us more cashback I guess

Your Max account will become a Cashrewards account
Cashrewards and ANZ are working hard to bring better experiences to ANZ customers. This includes the ability to view Cashrewards offers within the ANZ app – coming soon!

Your Max account will become a Cashrewards account
At 11.59 am AEST on Friday September 30, 2022 your Cashrewards Max account will automatically become a Cashrewards account. lol the concept is bad from the beginning. its just like gamble. sometimes you get sometimes not nothing customer can do. too many variables, conditions, app only web only, this code that code, approved, not approved, bla bla blu blo there are basically so many things can go wrong

and what if one day chrome, bing, etc etc make big update that broke the tracking? (and people using it before the cashback provider can update their system).

Far out. I just went through all the shit of signing up for an anz account last week just to use this

I paid with anz plus card, but did not get max rate. The helpdesk replied asking me to wait for a week for that transaction to change. It didn't after two weeks. I cbf chasing 30c.

  • Damm, time for me to close my ANZ account now then I guess ?

No longer any useful to me then

    • the ability to view Cashrewards offers within the ANZ app

  • Cashrewards will be integrated into anz app

Does the ANZ app offer any value?

    • Will it be both mainstream ANZ and ANZ Plus app?

    Good riddance.

    That was short lived

Banks are only concerned about 2 things.

Making money and their social reputation.

I'm guessing they gained neither from this short lived project.

  • That didn't last long. Was just getting used to using it. Was the one big advantage over the competition.

  • I thought ANZ bought it and outright owned Cashrewards?

Obviously the "max" product costing more than it's bringing in.

    • Not sure if they can stay profitable under current inflation climate. Their starlight childrens foundation corporate philanthropy remains a strong business value.

I like it when they painted this as a good and rosy news thing but with a very small (but most important) caveat.

PS: Never used it even though I have ANZ. It was all gimmick.

  • Maybe cost cutting so Anz can afford to buy Suncorp

Don't think the 'Max' rate was ever higher than the usual, except maybe in the beginning… so this isn't much of a surprise

  • The slightly higher cashback rates and (much) faster approval were useful to me on multiple occasions; understandable that it had to go though.

  • I was going to join ANZ for the cashrewards bonus. Thanks op, saves me the trouble.
