  • Off-topic, but is there any way to get the Note 20 Ultra 5G (new) atm? It would be the best and last Samsung to have SD card support, until the next gen of A series phones from Samsung (if they have SD card support)

  • Not dual sim right?

    • looks like no esim either

  • This or Pixel 6a for 599?

    • +1

With all the negative stuff around about the Pixel 6, it’s hard to recommend the 6a, even if it doesn’t suffer the same afflictions as its bigger brother(s)

    • Get a used S20 FE 5G (or 2021 4G). Can get them dirt cheap now and will run circles around both.

      • Used phones will always have a short battery life, most people will fast charge, run down to flat, repeat. No thanks.

        • Same for any phone. That's the exact position you'll be in, in a year or two - made worse if you have a sluggish inefficient Exynos or mid-range phone. Vicious cycle of ewaste. I turn fast charge off. Besides, the S20 FE is still sold new so look out for one.

      • What's dirt cheap? I see most going for $500+

        • +1

That's dirt cheap for new, sold for $1149 retail for the 5G until not that long ago. Keep in mind they're flagship phones - reverse wireless charging, 120Hz, high quality triple cameras, 4500mAh battery, NFC, eSIM, WiFi 6, stereo speakers, USB 3.2, UFS 3.1, under-display fingerprint, Snapdragon 865 (imo the best recent SD due to its relative efficiency) you name it. Provides excellent battery life. It was the phone everyone raved about - check out MKBHD's review. Don't compare apples with oranges.

@Techie4066: I'm a proud owner of an S20 FE 5G and have been since it launched. It's a fantastic phone. Probably the best smartphone I've ever owned. I actually love the plastic back on it too. No need to worry about smashing it.

            • @PaulEDangerously: I loved mine too. The FE should be the go-to standard for $500-$600. On the other hand the S21 FE is quite disappointing in my experience, with apps and navigation stuttering a bit.

              • @Techie4066: Where can I find this phone going for $500-$600 new? On google shopping search I only see $800-$900. Am I missing ozbargain deals?

@Eltyo: eBay. Filter by brand new. Also many newish examples on Gumtree.

                  • @Techie4066: Thanks mate, think I'll fork out the extra cash and buy locally for peace of mind tho, instead of cheap from china.

                    • @Eltyo: They are Australian. SM-G781B means AU/NZ.

                      • @Techie4066: Do you know the difference between the G781B and the G781U?

                        • @cv05: This should help

                          • @Techie4066: Perfect thanks. I'm in Vietnam atm. Probably a different region but will check it out.

@Techie4066: Where do you go to find out what model number corresponds to which country? What website?
