Kingston USB 3.0 card reader that supports CF cards and latest SDXC cards. It's $25.00 with free shipping from ozgameshop. Supports UDMA 6 on CF card.

The cheapest elsewhere on staticice is listed as $39.30, or $29.50 from hong kong on Ebay.

Here's a review of the reader: http://www.pcpro.co.uk/reviews/peripherals/369484/kingston-f…

"We borrowed one of Kingston’s high-speed SDXC cards, the 64GB ultimateX 233x, and ran our usual suite of storage tests. On a laptop with USB 3, those speeds soared to 58MB/sec and 36MB/sec. The USB 3 interface allowed the 64GB SD card to perform only a whisker away from Kingston’s claimed figures of 60MB/sec reads and 35MB/sec writes."

  • any idea of the max read speed (is it limited by the hardware in the cardreader) or will i get the full card speed (as long as its under 5Gbit/sec)?

I'm asking because most of my USB 2 card readers couldnt get anywhere near 480mbs (most they got was about 15MB/sec)even though I have a CF extreme which is supposed to read at 60…

    • +1

I added a review I've found before ordering. They states that on a 233x SDXC card (up to 60mb/s read), they were getting 58mb/sec read.

  • Ooerrr.. I've still got my 5000 player points from last time.. Thanks OP

  • Remember guys you will need a USB 3.0 header on your mother board for this to work at those speeds. (or a add-on card)

$25 seems expensive for a card reader. you can get them for as little as $6.50 on the chinese sites, eg http://www2.buyincoins.com/details/usb-3-0-all-in-1-flash-me…

    • Kingston vs chinese Deil and A5U5? Obvious price difference.

  • Its usb3. ANd its cheap. I just bought one off ebay for $40+ AUD. That chinese one doesn't read CF. ANd ultimately you buy a named brand card reader because you dont want to risk it dropping out during transfer, for one of the card slots to stop working, or generally being crap, or dying after a few months - all which has happened with all the cheapo ones I've bought.

  • Anyone know if these work when plugged into a phone with USB OTG functionality?
