Looking for a Chromebook Recommendation

Looking for recommendations for a Chromebook to replace an aging and slow laptop.

Will be primarily used for web browsing, Office / google apps on the cloud. Prefer larger screen size. Touchscreen and tablet conversion capability not needed. Ideally as cheap as possible while being reliable and without being unusable in the not too distant future.

  • I thought the duet 10 inch was pretty okay from the short hands on I had with my colleagues one.

Is installing ChromeOS Flex on the laptop you have an option? That could be incredibly cheap.

    • Works well but unfortunately no apps or linux so not the full experience. I've got in bringing an original surface pro back to life for the kids and would recommend it but you end up with a web browser.

Lenovo ThinkPad T470s for $349 + shipping is pretty decent if you just want a reliable Windows based laptop

But otherwise if you still want a Chromebook, JB HiFi has this on sale for $444. It's running a 6watt, 10nm Quad core CPU so don't expect too much in terms of performance.
