Long Term Reviews of Samsung SHP-DP609 Door Lock?

Hi all,

I will be installing a new timber entrance door in the next month or so and was about to pull the trigger on buying a Samsung SHP-DP609 door lock.

As most of the online reviews seem to be added shortly after installation, I was wondering if there are any Ozbargainers who can offer a longer term review of this lock? Of particular interest is the ongoing functionality of the fingerprint sensor.

Many thanks.

I've had mine installed since December 2020 and no issues so far. Although it's on the north side of the house, the door is under a porch/awning and has a screen door in front of it so never really gets direct sunlight - this may be a factor in reliability, particularly for the fingerprint sensor. There are some quirks with the app, but overall it does what it says on the box and we're very happy with it. I replaced the batteries for the first time in April or May (so about 16 months on the included batteries), although we don't have the 'auto lock on close' setting enabled, which would probably chew the batteries a bit faster.

I've got mine installed in June 2021 and it has no issues at all. The door it's installed is on a east side so a bit of morning sunlight on a lock, no screen door though. I've found no issues with the fingeprint sensor which we are using most of all compare to the pin code or the tag. With the "auto lock" feature ON and up to 10 times open-close per day, we did replace baterries on a 6th month of use. App is very simple and no firmware updates at all but maybe it is good in the end :) Overall, we are very happy with the lock.

I got one of these push pulls through eBay from overseas seller. Batteries run out after 2 weeks.

Don’t do that. Buy from a reputable seller.

    Thanks all for the feedback.

I bought one this afternoon from Bing Lee's ebay site using the Afterpay deal.
