Quake: The Offering from GOG doesn't come with the NIN soundtrack.

All I want for Quakecon is the announcement of a REAL Quake sequel or reboot along the lines of what they did for Doom, and not like the shambles that is Quake Champions.

Thanks for the kind soul who helped edit + add the prices.

  • QuakeCon 2022 sale is also on Steam

    • I'm actually in two minds about getting the Quake on Steam vs Quake on Switch (which is also on sale atm).
I'm used to playing Quake III Arena on PC / Linux but also liked the idea of being able to take my Switch anywhere although concerned about playing using the joycon rather than on keyboard & mouse.

Does anyone have any experience playing on joycon and can attest how playable it is vs using keyboard+mouse?

Return to Castle Wolfenstein and Doom 2 are handy for Oculus Quest 2 owners. The games are free to sideload but requires that you own the original game. It needs some files from the installer to be placed onto the Oculus in order to play the full version.

Might be worthwhile checking "Steam Store" as well as some things cheaper there: Link

  • Correction: I should have noted Doom 3 above for Oculus (not Doom 2)

Not related, but today I learnt that Quake has a plot.

    Huh.

Good memories, love that game, but I never noticed a plot in 30 years…

    • You don't read the back of the game boxes?? :O

In all honesty, who plays Doom / Quake for the story?

what is the best/cheapest Doom or Quake to get to play with Quake/DOOM RTX binary ?
I tried the demo Quake 2 in RTX and it was beautiful :D

edit: Quake 2 is $2.98 on Steam https://store.steampowered.com/app/2320/Quake_II/
    RTX Version : https://store.steampowered.com/app/1089130/Quake_II_RTX/

Got "The Ultimate Doom" from GOG ($1.89) and "Quake 2" from Steam ($2.98)

  • Wolfenstein 3D + Spear of Destiny - $12.39 - lol wat

  • If for some reason you haven't played the original Doom, Doom 2, Doom 3, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Quake, Quake 2… AND you have a Quest 2 VR.

I without a doubt recommend grabbing these, and playing them again in VR.

Several hours ago, GOG have updated DOOM (1993) and DOOM II so that these now include the 2019 Enhanced versions, same as what Bethesda did for DOOM (1993) on Steam, and DOOM II on Steam (except for the Bethesda.net account stuff, that was deprecated a little while ago).

    • For GOG users who already had either or both of these games in their GOG account library, the 'Enhanced' versions should automatically show up, free of charge.

    DOOM (1993) - Enhanced Version

Released in 2019 to celebrate DOOM’s 25th anniversary, this enhanced version makes it even easier for players to enjoy the original game on modern platforms. The re-release version includes:

    • Upgraded visuals
    • Improved mouse and keyboard controls
    • Gamepad/controller support
    • Widescreen resolution support
    • Native 60 FPS support
    • Episode IV: Thy Flesh Consumed
    • Local split-screen co-op and PvP

    DOOM II - Enhanced Version

Released in 2019 to celebrate DOOM’s 25th anniversary, this enhanced version makes it even easier for players to enjoy the original game on modern platforms. The re-release version includes:

    • Upgraded visuals
    • Improved mouse and keyboard controls
    • Gamepad/controller support
    • Widescreen resolution support
    • Native 60 FPS support
    • All twenty Master Levels
    • Local split-screen multiplayer co-op and PvP
