Does CC Complimentary Travel Insurance Cover Side Trip outside of AU if It's Used to Book?

I'm booking a return ticket from SYD - SGN but from SGN i'm also thinking of doing a side trip to BKK. Was planning to use the ANZ credit card for the complimentary travel insurance but I'm guessing it won't cover the SGN - BKK trip even though I will use it to book the tickets from here? Does anyone have knowledge of this and can help confirm? Thanks

A wise man once said that a man who goes through airport sideways is going to Bangkok.

The wise man also said 'NFI' when asked to provide insurance advice without reading the PDS.

    Read your PDS
Generally you're covered for travel outside of Australia as long as you've spent $500+ on flights or accommodation, so you'll be covered no matter what.
I'm with st george and they just ask you to list countries when applying for a travel insurance reference number.

I've recently noticed my Bankwest Platinum card seems to have removed the need to purchase the travel tickets through them. At least I couldn't find it prominently on the insurance details, like it usually is.
