Amazing Vodafone Deal

So yesterday i call vodafone to upgrade on the Samsung Galaxy III 32GB.
Well im still 8 months into my iphone 4s 64GB on a 12 month plan.
Called them up, negotiated, got all handset installments and access fees waived (~$450)and now waiting for a new SG3

Win !!

Moral of the story, call vodafone up if u want to upgrade even if ur still in your contract. They will do anything to retain customers !!

Time to sell my iphone 4S to fund the new iphone 5 (hopefully this time they'll have one rather than call it iphone 4S2 or something :p)

  • Do you mean you had 4 months left of a 12 month contract?
generally they will upgrade in the last 3-4 months anyway i think..

but if you were 4 months in and had 8 months left, then yes..WIN!

That's usually the case with 24 month contracts

i also had 4 months free … at the start of the 4S contract … yipee

        How did you manage that?

        • +2

network issues .. they kept giving me free months :D

  • Thanks for the heads up. 5 months left on iphone 4S contract. Remaining 5 months waived. Upgrade to Galaxy Note on new 12 month contract. Amazing!

Edit - may have spoken too soon.

    • 5 months on a 12 or 24 months ?

why didnt u get galaxy s3 .. only $5 difference between both phone

      • 5 months on 12 month plan. But still waiting to find out if it has gone through.

I got the note as I prefer the size. From what I could tell, they are fairly similar and the choice comes down to screen size.

      • Didn't work unfortunately :(

        Too good to be true.

Edit - They were willing to waive the exit fee but I had to pay $250 to pay out my Iphone 4s and sign up to a new 12 month contract.

well i rang them anyway, worth a try, im on a 24 month plan, with 6 months remaining.

i can get a galaxy s3, handset fee ($15p/m) waived, break fee waived, stay on my outdated $50 infinite plan.

all i have to do is join for another 24 months. so thats not bad

    hmm… should i or not…

      Hmmm.

For — a brand new top-of-the-line Android phone right now and you are not paying more than you are already paying. It's effectively just a 18 month contract because you still have 6 months with Vodafone anyway. It might even be less because you might get them to give you a new phone months before the new contract expires.

Against — Vodafone for another 24 months.

  • i had a 12 months plan with vodafone, the calls keep dropping out and the internet is not working, be mindful before signing up with them, especially for 24 months contract, make sure that you have a good reception in your area.

    • +1

They now have the 30 day reception guarantee thing - if you're not happy with your reception you can return the phone within 30 days and have the contract cancelled.

      • Only, if you have been unhappy for almost 2 years "no cancellation for YOU"

        • That's right kiwipride. I took on a contract just a couple of weeks before they introduced this. Had very little phone service and NO internet on the phone, and the best they'd offer at the time (only a week or so into the contract) was to switch the phone for a different REFURBISHED model.

  • for the record, i ended up going on a new $99 plan mainly because i found on that even 13 and 1300 numbers are infinte, and that was cost ing me more than the 50 anyway, so that should wotrk out cheaper. also cheaper evne though they charge me $12 handest fee because i changed to 12 months

but still should all work out cheaper than what im on now..

didnt even need a new phone.. bloody technology

    • Just to clarify, for changing from 24 to 12 months, it is only costing you an extra $12 a month?

      • basically yes,
but it works out better for me in the way that on the 50 infinite, 13 numbers etc come out of that 50, so extra are charged and iwas getting bills around $170. with the 99, everything is infinite except international. so 99+12 is less than 170. so im happy. but ill wait till the first bill. i tried this before with a cap and all it worked out, till i got a $900 bill.

        but thats a different story
