Using Multiple Ultimate Gift Cards

Hi, I purchased couple of ultimate giftcards (A$350) during recent woolworths sale, thinking that I use them all in one transaction (A$379) over goodguys website. However, while purchasing I realized that goodguys online does not accept split payments using ultimate giftcards.

Since the good guys sale (using 'Home' promocode) is going on, I can get the product at discounted price. So, is there any way to use multiple ultimate gift cards to use at a time online?

I appreciate your inputs.

Thanks in advance.

You can only redeem 1x Ultimate gift card online at TGG (and TGG Commercial), because TGG only accepts 1x Visa card per online transaction. However, TGG accept multiple Ultimate gift cards in an in-store transaction. That means you can use Ultimate gift cards to purchase a TGG gift card in-store at TGG.

    Here are the steps:

    • Go to your nearest TGG store with your Ultimate gift cards.

    • Ask to purchase $350 worth of TGG gift cards, ensuring you only purchase 1x or 2x TGG gift cards.

    • Ask to pay by card (because the Ultimate gift cards you have operate on the Visa network). Do not mention anything about using gift cards as a payment method, as that will confuse staff and make them think you are trying to use TGG gift cards as a payment. Anyway, you will probably need to ask to pay using multiple Visa cards, and staff should be okay to do this.

    Keep in mind the following:

    • TGG online accepts a maximum of 2x TGG gift cards (in conjunction with PayPal or 1x card), so make sure you get the correct number of TGG gift cards in store. Make sure to work out how you will pay the remaining $29 before you commit to purchasing any TGG gift cards from TGG in-store.

    • Additionally, it is actually against TGG store policy for customers to purchase Ultimate gift cards using TGG gift cards, but it is up to TGG staff to enforce this (and it seems like staff generally don’t actually enforce this).

If you are wondering why you cannot purchase a TGG gift card on the TGG website using Ultimate gift cards, it is because TGG sell TGG gift cards online via a third-party (i.e. True Rewards). If you attempt to purchase a TGG gift card through True Rewards, the gift card issuer will see you’re trying to purchase something through True Rewards and will decline the transaction, because True Rewards is not a participating retailer of the Ultimate Home gift card.

Finally, if you want to cut the hassle, when you go to the TGG store, you could actually ask staff whether they can price match the coupon code deal on the TGG website. You will miss out on cashback from Cashrewards (and presumably Shopback or other cashback providers) if you end up purchasing the item you want in-store instead of online, but you are only going to miss out on a handful of dollars if you end up completing the purchase in-store…

Obviously, my advice so far has assumed you have a TGG store near you that you can easily get to. If you do not, a potential option is to call the TGG sales hotline and see whether they can work something out for you. I believe you can use Ultimate gift cards for MOTO transactions, so you could ask whether TGG can complete the transaction on your behalf that way. You would also need to negotiate the price, considering the coupon code does not automatically work on the sales hotline, but considering it is on the TGG website, you should not face too many issues…

    Hi WookieMonster,

Thanks for your help. It really appreciate it. Yes, I do have a store near by and will give a try.

    Once again thanks a lot.

  • Exchange card for an eGift

You can now exchange your Ultimate Gift card for an eGift of a participating retailer on your card.

For online purchases that are greater than the value of the card, the exchange card solution allows you to use the partner eGift for online purchases and you can supplement the additional value with another payment method that is accepted by the merchant.

    • Did you actually check whether TGG is on the gift card exchange facility before linking it here?

There were three reasons I did not mention that exchange facility in my comment:

      • Most retailers participating in the Ultimate gift card scheme do not actually appear in the Ultimate gift card exchange facility. If you look at the Ultimate gift card webpage for the Ultimate Home gift card, it mentions that it is not possible to exchange an Ultimate Home gift card for a TGG gift card. Additionally, if you enter the details for an Ultimate Home gift card into the website you linked to (which I did a few seconds ago), you will only see The Iconic, Barbeques Galore, Dusk and Star Car Wash.

      • I did not want to confuse the OP by talking about an exchange facility, and then turn around and say that it does not matter.

      • Even if The Good Guys were on the gift card exchange facility, it sounded like OP purchased too many Ultimate gift cards for the gift card exchange facility to be a viable option. It sounds like they purchased a mixture of $50 and $100 denominations, because they mentioned they had multiple Ultimate Home gift cards. There is no way to exchange multiple Ultimate gift cards into one TGG gift card, so if OP exchange an Ultimate Home gift card for a TGG gift card, they would end up with too many TGG gift cards to complete the transaction online and they would have to go in-store to purchase the item (and miss out on cashback and possibly even miss out on the coupon code deal).
