Do Smart Doorbells WITHOUT a Video Camera Exist?

Has anyone come across a doorbell that does not have a camera but is still able to connect to the google eco-system? All I want the doorbell to do is chime on my google nests around the house when someone presses the doorbell.
Any searches I do on google show me only video camera doorbells that I'm not interested in.
I don't see the point of a video doorbell if I already have cameras surrounding my property.

    Tape over the camera lens?

    • Spend $200 on a video camera doorbell just to tape over the lens. Seems like a good way to waste some money

Then spend the $200 and don't tape over the camera lens, I guess?

It seems like being locked into the Google Ecosystem™ is more the issue here than anything else. I mean I get it, if you've already set up all the Google Nests™ to turn your home into a Google House™ (in which case I would be remiss if I didn't say: lol, username checks out), but honestly what you're asking for makes me think more of "$40 wireless doorbell from Bunnings" than it does anything with a Google™ in the product name.

      • Seems like a good way to waste some money

That's your real question behind your post, in your eyes you don't value the options available, but somehow you want to stick with the google ecosystem… like whatwasherproblem said, just go buy a wireless door bell if you are truly after a door bell, rather than extend the functions on your google kit.

Cant be Googling very hard. I literally found 6+ products in the first search I did. "smart doorbell no camera"

Arlo used to have one that was just a doorbell, but you needed an Arlo base station.
Xiaomi make 2 different variations. Mi smart switch and Aqara Smart Switch, again, may need a hub.
AOTEC Wireless Doorbell 6, but you will need a smart home hub.
Almost all of the products I found require some form of interface between themselves and the internet.

And these are just a few. It depends on how deep you want to get into this, as there are also lots of DIY projects using things like raspberry pi and arduino that you can make.

I think the easiest way to do it is to do as SF3 said and that is, just get a camera doorbell that connects to your current system and just put a cover over the camera, or if you have all the other cameras, just set one of them up to detect movement at the front door to set off an alert, or just ignore the camera part of it.

    • Present the post as a question rather than 'find me a deal'… smart move OP.

  • Without seeing it is not smart/believing

    • I just feel that someone is waiting from me at the door…. Wait it’s a feeling but I want to believe it with my own eyes.

  • I dont think thats a smart idea.

  • Without video, what smart capability do you need out of a smart door bell that a conventional door bell can't do?

  • Maybe use a human motion sensor like aqara and pair with the hub if you don't have zigbee. That should be enough to get the notification of someone Arrived at Front door.

That's what I have got, cause many times delivery guy doesn't ring the bell and I miss the delivery specifically if it's raining. I have the aqara switch as well for people to think of it as a bell, but I already know there is someone. Works all the time.
