  Sorry for a stupid question but can someone explain how to use this? I mean, I've used the traditional meat thermometers before and I can just keep it in the oven with the temperature facing the oven door, but electronics like this, can I really just keep the whole unit in the oven at such high temperatures? Or, am I meant to use the long wire and keep just the metal sensor in the oven and the unit outside the oven?

    Cables go out oven door to unit. Bluetooth to phone.
    Have one - graphing, alarms for temp is very handy.

  I previously I had one of these and worked well till it broke. I caught the steak I was cooking on fire and thermo stopped working - I think that one was safe to say was down to user error though.

  There is a new deal on ebay for the INKBIRD ISC-007BW Wireless BBQ Temperature Controller Bluetooth & WIFI Probe C/F. Down from $289 to $229. Further 17% off for ebay plus members ($190 for me). Essentially it has temperature control via a pit temp probe linked to a PID controlling a fan to regulate the pit temperature. Plus food temp monitoring and app interface.

  This will go on my second hand kamado and take some of the stress out of low and slow.
