Car Window Tint Film Recommendations

Hi, just wondering if anyone have any recommendations when it comes to car window tints?

I'm mainly after the uv protection and heat rejection benefits that tint offers.

So far I am considering the following:
- Rayno Phantom S9
- F1 (tintacar)
- Spectre (Tintacar)

Would love to hear your thoughts and experiences with tints. Recommendations for tint places in NSW is also much appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

groupon has one window tint coupon, tint ur ride

  • apparently you want ceramic for the heat proofing. dyed tint works (darker the better), just not as well as ceramic. there is one with metal in it, but apparently that interferes with radios, phones etc, whereas ceramic offers the same UV and heat protection that the metal one does without interference.

it's not legal here (or there) but some people in the USA get 95 % VLT (basically clear) ceramic tint applied to their windscreen and it helps a lot, cops can't tell it's tinted when they pull someone over who has it because it doesn't look tinted, yet still it provides heat protection. popular illegal modification in states like Texas, which get very hot.

    • Why isn’t it legal?

      • you're not allowed to tint the front window, only the very top, the "sunstrip" of the window, but some choose to do it anyway, much the same as people do DPF deletes here.

because lawmakers decided it wasn't legal

  • Interior of your car can affect how dark it will actually look. Light interior, or big windows and it won't look as good

  • Nsw is a big place. How far do you want to travel for a decent job?

    • I'm from south west Sydney. Willing to travel approx 1-1.5 hr out to have a good job done.

  • I just got 10 percent off gtoupon tinting package with code LOCAL10. only valid for 2 hours

    • may I know which package you got ?Standard carbon package with lifetime warranty? how many windows included in that package ?

4 plus the back window, but unfortunately I bought a station wagon, so there are extra windows. The site says will cost an extra 50 to 100

  • +1 for s9

    • Seen some people reported peeling after approx a year. Have you experienced any issues on your end?

      • I've had rayno s9 on my car for 2 and a half years, no peeling. Pretty happy with it except when the sun hits it at an angle the colour of the tint has a bit of a blueish haze. It's not a big problem though, just different to previous dyed tint on my old car which was always black no matter the angle of the sun.

        • That's pretty reassuring. I have heard of the greenish colour on it. Have you noticed any reduction on the heat rejection at all?

          • @oblivianz: Yes definitely its reducing heat compared to before tinting. Aircon doesn't have to work as hard, though if the car is parked in the sun for several hours it will reach the same peak temp no matter if its tinted or not.

      • if the tint is peeling after one year, id argue that it from the tinter side of things. Tint adhesive should last way longer than one year.

  • Doesn't matter. If you're on a budget, any carbon tint will do. Ceramic, I got 3M, but avery and black armor are also available but not 3M good.
