  • +2

I don’t expect this to sell well

Seriously how many would they sell when it's already available as part of PS plus collection?? How much better can it be than the original?

  • +3

Really should be a free or $10 upgrade at max

  • I'm very excited to play this NEW game

  • -1

this game is like a decade old….the 2nd one was also Dog shit why would anyone pay 98 bucks for a slight better graphics then then the last remake version….im going to upvote at the sheer rip off Sony tries to get away with these days.

  • +31

It pains me that naughty dog has so many great IPs that could do with a revival, but instead they're "remaking" a game that's less than a decade old which was already remastered last gen, and charging a ridiculous price for it.

    • +3

Not sure why the downvotes mango, you nailed it

      • There'll always be people passionate about the series that won't agree!

I did enjoy the first game on PS3, but especially being remastered on PS4 and playable on PS5, it's just arguably unnecessary.

    • Druckmann either doesnt know how to write anything else but Last of Us or has some kind of long term vision which is yet to pay off, which is why TLOU is all ND have produced since Amy Hennig left.

      • -2

Druckmann either doesnt know how to write anything

        he doesn't.

        • I should clarify what I mean here, as I didn't mean to infer that Druckmenn sucks as a writer. That's entirely subjective.

Uncharted games were action adventures with comedy. The Last of Us is grim and serious.

Hennig's writing style incorporates the humor, Druckmann's does not.

The only game Druckmann wrote that incorporated comedic aspects is Uncharted 4 but this game was co-written by Josh Scherr (who left ND a couple of months ago which is probably a telling sign) who also co-wrote the majority of the other UC games with Hennig, so i think its highly doublful that Druckmann was responsible for any of the humor in that game.

          • +1

@shadowx: Hennig, Druckmann and Straley, when combined, delivered probably the best work I reckon, in terms of story and pacing - i.e. Uncharted 2.
The Last of Us Part 1 is most likely rated above Uncharted 2 by a lot of people, but that was still Druckmann and Straley working together.

Hennig's writing style incorporates the humor, Druckmann's does not

Technically, Straley does funny / humor mostly. Hennig is the one who balances everything (for Uncharted 2). That's why in The Last of Us Part 1, there are still some funny dialogues (and those bits are appreciated by fans I reckon). So part 1 still has that balance because Straley and Druckmann kinda balances each other.

Part 2 is Druckmann only (as Amy and Straley left) so it would be dark (or darker). Druckmann wanted to kill off Elena in Uncharted 2, but Amy didn't want that (however, having Elena near death [Druckmann's idea] and then the adlib ending between Nathan Drake (Nolan) and Elena Fisher (Emily) was a very nice touch). Druckmann had some great ideas (the ending of Part 1, and a lot of set pieces we love in Uncharted 2 are Druckmann's work). Uncharted 4 is mostly Druckmann (he did throw away Amy's work completely). However, Uncharted series is generally more collaborative (as the cast members can and do contribute).

Do hope Druckmann can be more open minded moving forward. He does great work, but at times, he does need someone to tell him not to go extreme.

This release.. is it a re-release of the original release, or did they do a re-release of the re-release? And if the did, should we call it a re-re-release, or re-release part 1 version 2, or Oh no I've gone crossed eyed

      • First game was an exclusive release for PS3 in 2013.

      • So called "remastered" second one was just a rerelease for PS4 with slightly updated graphics and 60 FPS support.

      • This third one is a real remaster of rerelease with the graphics engine and gameplay of Last of Us Part 2. So it is a combination both rereleased Part 1 and Part 2.

In conclusion, it is stupid :)

  • +4

As one of the 4 people on this planet who hasn’t played this game yet, even I think this price point is ridiculous…!

Edit: does this have any gameplay improvements? Or is it just visual enhancements?

    • it has gameplay improvements, it's built """"from the ground up"""" but like, not designed from the ground up, it is still designed gameplay-wise the same as the original. supposedly there are more options for traversal and stuff but from what they've released idk what that is, because the combat looks the same.

    • +1

Probably will be some minor gameplay improvements, but I don’t think they’re doing anything too substantial like introducing additional move sets from the sequel such as going prone, as they aren’t looking to rebalance the game or redesign areas to incorporate those abilities. I expect they’ll polish up some aspects but.

I played through both 1 and 2 this year however and the original still holds up just fine. I’d played that back on the PS3 but never the sequel. I don’t see a huge need to retrofit the first with the second games abilities etc.

Edit: however they were ok with breaking the balance by having preorder and digital deluxe editions that unlock abilities earlier than originally intended.

  • +8

Lol, maybe at $39 is more reasonable.

  • i might buy it from the Turkish PS store for about $56 and use my main acc to play it on. Just wanna experience it with new haptics

  • No.Neil Druckmann sucks

  • +3

Last of Us is a classic… but I’m happy to wait a few years for this to be on PS+

  • +1

I must be the only one excited for this….haven't played through it since ps3 days

  • +2

Absolutely loved this game, and was going to re-play it on PS4 Remastered, but I might hold off for this to drop in price.

  • Who pays $98 for a standard edition game?

  • +2

    lolololol

  • IMO this price wouldn't be unreasonable if it included multiplayer. like how do they re-release a game for the third time and simply not include such a significant part of the appeal this time, but then sell it for MORE than it has ever been sold for before?!

  • +1

    Needs loot boxes.

  • +1

Great game, but I think someone's been hanging out with Todd Howard a bit too much…

  • Should package it with Skyrim and GTA 5 10 years anniversary pack

  • Is this ozbargain or 1dollacheaper website?

  • I’d buy it for the cover art.

  • +1

Could have been a DLC with a small fee for those who’s own previous versions. At least that gives the fans some perk and respect.

  • Retail price of over $100 for a game which most people have purchased twice already in the last 10 years?

  • +1

How is a $98 a bargain for a game that was remastered not too long ago?

  • Not for that price….

  • +1

I dont think it should be on here sorry mate 2 expensive.

  • +1

$98 is a bargain for a glorified asset update disguised as "remake"? Yeah right lol.
You must be having a laugh!

  • +2

    Where's the bargain?

    • -1

      RRP is $124.95…

      • +1

RRP is made of corporate dreams and fairy dust snorted in the boardroom.

  • welcome back to OZRRP. even if this isn't the shitshow that was the second game, it's still not worth 100 bucks.

  • +1

TLOU 1 and 2 are by far my most played games. I've finished both of them multiple times and i'll be grabbing this on release date. Hopefully this sells well. I'm sure it will!

  • +4

Is it the last of us or the last of me? Where’s Joel on the cover?

  • -1

So now that Sony have cloned another idea from MS with their version of GamePass, is this going to be on their premium service day one, like MS do with all their first party releases?

  • +8

it's on ps4 for 9 bucks, who the f is buying this

    • -6

The ps5 remastered game is on ps4 for $9? Post it!!!!

    • -2

      Virgins

  • +3

When games like GT7 and HFW launched on sale at $79 this is not a bargain, far from it…. for a remake of a remake can't even dodge or drive and prone cash grab….

    • +1

We're paying for that next-gen tax now it seems. Def not worth it at full price and considering how much TLOU2 has dropped in price I could say that this might be worth checking out at sub $35 which I believe will happen sooner than later.

  • I'd rather wait for it show up on game pass than pay $98 lol

    • You'll be waiting a very long time to see this on gamepass

  • -1

Too many people complain over ridiculous overprice.

Me: I traded in just three cheaper games toward preorder for perfect $125 total surprisingly at EB Games during huge bonus trade in value last June.

    • I did trade in recently too. However, I prefer having the money back in my pocket, rather than paying RRP for this game.

I own PS4 remastered version (digital) - $9. I get this one will have PS5 fast loading. However, honestly, Sony really should copy and implement Quick Resume.

  • Wait until boxing day sales, will see a more reasonable price.

  • +1

Absolute rip off, appearance may have been updated but gameplay is largely the same.

  • YIKES! Where is the PC version and I wonder how much its gonna be?

  • +2

Terry Tibbs here, you're having a laugh for sure.
    taking the pi55

replay the game with 'new weapon parts' for $98,
    gtfoh

  • +4

The Last of Us (remastered) is my favourite game of all time. At $24, $12, $9 it's a bargain. $98 is a money grab and a grubby move by Naughty Dog & Sony for some slightly better graphics and a 3rd release of this game. The fact they chose to try & cash in on this version at full price, instead of delivering the much awaited multiplayer version of LOU2, makes this a neg for me.

    • The Last of Us (remastered) is the first cash grab.
The Last of Us Part 2 Factions will be the next cash grab (which will include the PS5 fast loading support for the base game as well I reckon).
Perhaps followed by The Last of Us Part 3.

  • The trauma, I can't go through it once again lol 😂

  • took advantage of eb games bonus and traded $20 value of games for this, no complaint from me. Otherwise hell no for this price even though it's one of my favourites of all time.

  • +3

Stop buying this crap and make devs actually work on something new, instead of their sole focus being on taking as much money from us as possible

  • +1

    easy cashgrab

  • +2

As someone who bought the PS3 Ellie Edition back in 2013 for less and the PS4 Remastered version at a heavy discount, I'm not buying this overpriced shit again.

  • +1

Even Todd Howard wouldn't re sell Skyrim for the 100th time at this absurd price

    • The Last of Us part 1 remake will have '16 times the detail'.

  • All they had to do was chuck some extra freshly made story DLC to fill in that 20 year time gap and multiplayer and this wouldnt have been unreasonable

Still preordered anyway but yeah its a bday gift and didnt purchase the first two iterations

  • +1

    ridiculous

  • +1

Seems that this is discounted from RRP, fair enough to post it. The game should be cheaper for what it is though.

  • +1

Games never arrive at RRP, other than at the EB rip-off merchants. Using that price for comparison, doesn't make this a deal.

For reference they're also selling GT7, GoW Ragnarok and Ratchet & Clank for $124.95, which are $85, $98 and $65 respectively on Amazon.

  • +1

This will be half price in a couple of months. Don't waste your money.

  • -1

Cash grab. It was a lot cheaper at release.
