$2 Medium Coffee @ Hungry Jack's via App (Pick up Only)

230

Heard on the radio that for this week only, a medium coffee is only $2 at HJ

I personally found the barista made coffee pretty good (especially if the store is up to date and has the whole barista roster poster up).

The HJ near me usually makes 3-in-1 instant coffee quality and only occasionally at cafe quality.

Just got an email about it. Final day is August 28, no the 26th. HJ's also have a fair bit of work ahead of them to catch up to McCafe.

Mccafe is 💩also. It all depends who's the person making your coffee, usually just some random child that happens to be there and sees a coffee order on the screen. Hit or miss, mostly miss.

How else would they know the customer's order?

      • Nothing will match a proper barista coffee made by an actual barista from an actual coffee shop but i've tried the Jack's Cafe a couple of times and there is definitely room for improvement to match the next rung up the ladder which is McCafe. especially with speeding up orders. I think they have rolled out the Jack's Cafe's too quickly.

Thanks! My brain is back to the M-F mindset 🤦

    • well, i really like the HJ cup lids with the tiny cap :3

  • Are these coffees made with an automatic machine (like at 7/11) or do they have actual baristas there? Haven't been to a HJ's in ages

Random child is making your coffee, better get a cup of water unless you're ready to return it and ask if someone else is interested to have a go at making you another coffee. Like at most other coffee places it's a child/student making you your coffee, no care or knowledge about and is here today, gone tomorrow. Ah, the advertisements….Barrista🤦

Actual baristas work at actual cafes…I did a stint at "McCafe" after high school and I would not trust my coffees

    • +1

All the stores which have the "Jack's Cafe" branding now have "baristas".

      Tastes like water.

      • +4

Well to be fair they never said the coffees were better @HJ.

        • Yea, I also forgot that chains/branches vary wildly, so really it's probably just my local one that tastes like water.

  • I guess it’s like maccas.Kids on $10.70 an hour for 3 hrs so they don’t have to pay a 15 min smoko

  • I actually found MacCafe's coffee quite good most of the time.

    • me too but the sweetness varies to who's doing it seems..

Can also win a free medium coffee with shake and win. I have 4 HJs accounts so just alternate between each until I win

  • People still listen to the radio?

    • It's better than the stereo.

Cab ride to the airport haha better than sitting in silence and effectively giving the okay for the driver to start calling people and chatting

Funnily enough, one time the cab driver was also working a call centre gig at the same time as he was driving…

      • Lol

      • That's epic multitasking.

Either order something with syrups or chocolate powder. Enough of either can hide the mistakes of the 14 year old burger flipper making $6 an hour.

Love how Maccas has the stripy barista uniform, tricks me into thinking they've actually gotten training and who knows, maybe they even have

    • syrup adds cost

what's diffference between "drinkign chocolate" n "choc powder"?

      • what's diffference between "drinkign chocolate" n "choc powder"?

        One is spelt correctly?

  • Hideous coffee… 7-11 coffees are better and that's saying something and they are rubbish too

    • +3

Sure not the greatest coffee but for $2 for a medium, you probably cannot expect better.

7-eleven is about to raise the price of their coffee and slurpies, so say goodbye to $1 drinks.

      • +2

As far as I'm aware you can still get $1 coffee from Coles Express. Though not nearly as ubiquitous as 7-Eleven, I think the coffee is just as good, if not better.

        • +1

Sure it's OK, but I'm not filling up there, it's normally much dearer than 7-eleven. While Ampols coffee is pretty weak, I don't mind their mocha or hot choc and that's still only $1. Once 7-11 raise their prices I expect the rest will too.

      • Yeah Ezymart put the price of the $1 small coffee up to $2 and the $2 medium/large to $3, which is laughably overpriced. GYG does $2 'barista made' coffee with 50c milk options which actually tastes like coffee.

        • Might have to switch to GYG if the coffee is any good. Sounds like it might be the only cheap coffee place near Melb Central other than 7-Eleven, and those have risen to $2 too now.

          • @OzBarAnon: GYG is definitely the best coffee around for $2. Other milks are 50c extra.

  • is all-day coffee?
