What makes you think it's their price increase rather than the supplier/manufacturer?

If it was, just buy it elsewhere.

      • +52

        Then shop around?

          • +37

            @franco cozzo: I'm sure they'll survive ;)
All the more reason to support the little guy

@franco cozzo: lol awkward. I don't think thats why you were downvoted.

@franco cozzo: Well it looks like you do?

                • +28

@franco cozzo: You noted and commented about it, when you could have ignored it, so yes, it appears you do care a bit.

                    • +9

                      @franco cozzo:

no… just pointing out how many idiots there are here thats all

Yeh I don't think you're achieving what you think you're achieving, especially if you can't figure out why you got negs.

Just calm down and shop else where.

                      • -6

                        @Ughhh: all calm here ugh

                      • +2

@Ughhh: God I hope you don't shop anywhere else. I feel sorry for the small business that has to tell you that their prices have gone up.

      • +13

yet to see this huge price increase in any other retailer

Maybe stock up from others, before a potential increase from everyone else.

        • indeed….have had this thought already

          • +3

@franco cozzo: this is almost guaranteed. Chemist Warehouse can shoulder a larger increase for a while but not forever. They won't just increase the price that much for no reason.

            • -2

@coffeeinmyveins: if it is the case… then theyve still taken the first possible opportunity to pass that cost onto their customers while other retailers havent. i can find a dozen places with prices well below chemist warehouse whereas they used to be the most competitive

              • +12

@franco cozzo: Chemist Warehouse is one of the largest volume operators so they would be ordering stock more frequently. If the supplier has put the price up it's likely they would be the first hit while smaller retails are still selling off old stock.

              • @franco cozzo: Chemist Warehouse almost certainly turns over stock far more rapidly than just about any other competitor and hence the price increases will hit them first. Others likely have not been hit with the cost increases yet.

                • -1

@gromit: i asked about the price increase 3 days ago directly from the customer service link in my account and am still awaiting a reply….

& how long do you think it will take them to reply and explain their new pricing structure and why its 40% higher than all their competitors?

…guess im lucky it wasnt a phone call because id probably be dead by now from being on hold for so long!

                  • @franco cozzo: Customer service is unlikely to reply or at least with anything useful, customer service would not reveal information on their costs. Just shop elsewhere, it is greed (unlikely for such a hike) then you should be rewarding the competitors, most likely the competitors will just be lagging on price.

      • +8

Then simple… buy it somewhere else!

  • +9

Shop around and get comfortable with a few different brands so that you have more choice. Just because it's the brand they prefer, doesn't mean it's the only option. Pricing has gone up in this area, just like food and everything else. The price increases are just behind many other products.

Also check out CAPS federal funding or if any state schemes they may be eligible for.
I do agree that ut shouldn't have to cost so much to be comfortable and confident with incontinence.

    • -1

great reply…though CAPS funding is capped though and barely covers a fraction of the cost

Chemist warehouse do price match if you show receipt or listing online

        • read the T&Cs
ONE item price matched and at their discretion ….its just more bullshit marketing

          • +4

@franco cozzo: Just went and read the T&Cs on their price matching as I figured you were just being spiteful and making stuff up about their price matching policy being limited to one item and at their discretion to give more credit to the big bad corporate pharma hurting the small people. Turns out you are right!

At Chemist Warehouse if you find a cheaper price on the same item at another Australian Registered Pharmacy or Australian Registered Retailer we will match it and give you 10% off the difference.
The price matching policy is limited to the retail limit applicable or a maximum quantity of three ONLY ONE of each product.

            Exclusions:
Our price matching policy excludes international orders and offers that are exclusively online. This policy cannot be applied to products at the other company if they are:
            - out of stock
            - short dated
            - OUR DISCRETION
            - on clearance or discontinued
            - A part of a promotional offer e.g. buy one get one free
            - Purchases made through Click and Collect
Chemist Warehouse reserves the right to deny any price matching claims if they do not meet the above criteria.

            • @MorriJ: lol…being spiteful to a discount pharmacy? i have better thing to do with my time

this rant is because they deserve it….theyre a-holes of the highest order promising & 'guaranteeing' the lowest prices but as can be seen quite clearly… its all an illusion & deceptive marketing crap

      • +2

It's a good $600 ish something annual. Consider if there are ways you can reduce costs through varying your choices of products or the way used. If financial is an issue.

        • -5

both good points. thanks for the useful contribution….

as opposed to useless commentators (& fans of chemist warehouse) contributing nothing of value that for some reason keep posting

          • +3

@franco cozzo: I know how expensive it can be. But I also know how often ppl use the same thing all the time and it's not the most financially effective. Eg. Do you need the same level of absorption at night vs day as the higher the absorbency the more expensive. For day time, to reduce changes, can you use a cbooster pad' that can be removed during the day so that the more expensive pullup is still viable. Booster pads are cheap and go inside continence underwear. For guys especially, consider condom catheters too. Not medical advice but all worthy things to discuss with a professional.

            • +1

@cookie2: There is reusable underwear for incontinence now, isn't there?

              • @Melencir: Yup. Won't suit high absorbancy requirements imo but great for day use for many. And that's the thing, ppl use the same thing for years but there's constantly new stuff coming out that is worth educating yourself on.

  • +2

Have no doubt that the price increase is because they think people can simply claim it on NDIS etc. Total rort.

    • agreed….something up if theyre pricing themselves 30-40% above the competition

  • +2

Try Google. Look around and compare.
    https://store.independenceaustralia.com/

  • +3

From the price it seems you are buying molicare. Independence Australia is selling it for $37.5 and discount chemist around $32.

Not sure why the complaint, if you aren’t happy with the price get it elsewhere? Or perhaps check if they have a price match guarantee?

    • -1

      "AUSTRALIA'S CHEAPEST CHEMIST!!'
      "STOP PAYING TOO MUCH!"

are just some of their bullshit marketing lies, thats why

      • +6

Almost every business does this, it's not new. Why so butthurt?

        • -5

youre apologising for false advertising now….?
you on the right website mate?

          • +4

@franco cozzo: When did I do that? You are really missing the point here.

I get that it's annoying that the price has risen, and you have every right to complain and take your business elsewhere, but almost everyone is basically giving you the same feedback/advice, yet we are in the wrong and you get all defensive or misinterpret the comments?

      • +1

Look. You have been given alternatives. I am not sure the value add of keep raving about Chemist Warehouse.

Most people in this forum know CW is definitely NOT the cheapest. I can name a few but Aveeno is one example I can think of and you have just discovered continence aids are just another one of them.

The citizens of this country has voted for massive increase of cost of living so we all have to live with this consequences.

Do yourself a favour and shop elsewhere. Seriously….

        • have been quoted $32 per pack versus $46.99 per pack at chemist warehouse.already done…
this is more a warning to others of impending price increases across similar and other product lines at chemist warehouse in the near future

      • it actually said "is this? AUSTRALIA CHEAPEST CHEMIST".

        So your choice to decide.

        • lol….they are so dodgy with their marketing

          their slogan should actually be

          "STOP PAYING TOO MUCH!!"
"GO BUY YOUR STUFF ANYWHERE ELSE EXCEPT HERE!!"

  • +6

But inflation is only 'officially' 6.1%!

    • +1

      chemist warehouse maths:

      6.1% inflation + 31.9% profiteering
= pissing themselves all the way to bank (….scuse the pun)

      • +5

If the OP thinks incontinence product prices are ludicrous wait till they go to the butcher.

        • +1

          i is the op…

this is by far the greatest rort ive encountered recently…and that it targets a required health product for the disabled / elderly / unwell really irks me

          • @franco cozzo: Sorry, I cba scrolling back up that far. :)

But yeah I know what you mean, it's especially galling given how many hundreds of millions of dollars the government is pissing away in the Ukraine and all of the other wastages they indulge in. They wouldn't dare think of lowering their tax scroungings so us landless peasants can make it through the financial disaster they created …… don't get me started……

  • +1

There's a chance that the RRP has increased, if other retailers havent increased yet, they may soon. Happened with some cosmetic products.

    • yeah….havent seen it yet though? even amazon have them for around $36 a pack

      • It took a few weeks for other stores to update their new RRP, after I first noticed the increase.

  • +3

    wtf chemist warehouse

If you don't like chemist warehouse prices, you are entitled to shop elsewhere.

    • +12

Op just wants to be heard and a shoulder to cry on.

      • +3

We should open a therapy forum category.

  • +3

It might be helpful if there was some links to the Chemist Warehouse product and the alternative cheaper suppliers.

  • +5

Op should try and make a new chemist warehouse competitor. Hope you make it op. Do it for everyone who needs incontinence pad!

  • +3

Chemist Warehouse only pretends to be cheaper. Setup a price alert and stock up like everyone else. Difficult times call for creative measures.

    • exactly my point ….thankyou!

  • Support other retailers. CW already made their owners a billion bucks.

    • -1

bang on the money….they just lost 2-3K of sales from us per annum on assorted medical needs
      hopefully others do the same

      • +8

Second time you've mentioned that. They don't really care about your 2-3K per year. Your local store will make that in the next 30 mins.

        • -3

crap they dont….thats a decent per year spend and thats not including meds for one household / 4 adults

          • +12

@franco cozzo: Hmmm, with a turnover of $5 billion a year, your 2-3k is 0.00006% of their yearly sales. I think they'll be ok.

            • -5

@brendanm: so youre saying i should keep giving chemist warehouse our custom….? you sure youre on the right site mate?

              • +13

@franco cozzo: Nope, I'm saying they don't give a shit if you shop there or not, and literally all you had to do was shop somewhere else, rather than cry on here. As others have said, there will likely be a price hike coming to all retailers, I doubt chemist warehouse hikes a product that much for fun, they make money on volume.

                • -4

@brendanm: mate its a effin bargain site…yeh? we talk about prices and products and shit…a near 40% increase is worth commenting on.
wait until it happens across other products and ranges that directly affect you and then it will be relevant to you i guess?

                  • +7

@franco cozzo: No, as I'll just go somewhere else, rather than crying. Lots of things have gone up recently, shop around.

                    • -1

@brendanm: are you fan of chemist warehouse & price-jacking or something?

                      • +10

@franco cozzo: I literally just told you to shop somewhere else if it's cheaper elsewhere. Also, as said, the supplier has likely increased the price.

                        • +2

@brendanm: OP wants you to bash the crap out of Chemist Warehouse. How dare they raise their prices like other businesses!?!

                  • +5

@franco cozzo: You seem completely incapable of understanding business.

                    Theyre not your charity.

If they did something unethical, someone else will fill the gap to take the money they could be making.

Go find them and stop whinging.

Or, become a distributor and start selling your own online if you think there is money to be made (after all, theyve jacked the price up massively for no reason…)

This is a bargain site, lots of people have told you to go elsewhere, as you have claimed you will do, and then you ranted on about them losing business. No one here cares about that, but everyone who reads your comments cares that youre being a jerk, hence all the negs.

                    • -3

@StalkingIbis: ….yeah right. keep on defend ripping off pensioners the elderly and the disabled
…and i care sweet-f-all about any of the downvotes or any of those users that use mass downvoting as a means to stifle discussion here

                      • +9

@franco cozzo: Why do you keep thinking thats what people are saying???

Every single person has said, 'yes, go elsewhere'.

The discussion is: Hey, do you think chemist warehouse wants to lose customers and money? WHy do you think they have done this? Do you think there might be other reasons to this?

YOur response to the discussion: No. Youre an idiot. CHemiset warehouse is evil. WHy are you defending them?

  • +2

What's that, a business has to make a profit?! Shock horror

    • -3

40% increase is huge…should we just suck it up and pay the extra so poor poor chemist warehouse can pay their shareholders even more?

  • +3

NDIS is worse, when agency managed you don’t have much choice. Coles/woolies price for my child's nappies is much much less than NDIS approved businesses online.

You can’t use NDIS funds at coles/woolies.
So what could go into his therapy funding is being used on expensive consumables.

    • …did not know this was the case but im not at all surprised

    • +1

Can you not purchase nappies yourself, and use the funding for what it is actually needed for then?

      • +1

Funding as a consumable is allocated to certain things. Theres flexibility but it depends on the plan. You don't just get $20k consumables funding (example only), you get funding toward $20k in consumables directly related to the covered disability.
