Did You Receive Your Model Y Sooner Because of Cancellation?

Hi all

In need of a car and looking at the Tesla model Y

Current ETA on the website is Feb to April 2023

Has anyone started to receive their car sooner? I imagine there are tens of thousands teslas dropping into ports now and people cancelling because of inflation/interest rates etc

Curious to see if anyone was lucky enough to receive their car sooner rather than later

I know Fremantle Port is currently packed with them. But it is a fair point, you'd hope though that people shelling out $70k+ on a car have their finances in order enough to foresee this.

Could go for a BYD Atto 3 if you don't want to wait?

There's several facebook groups dedicated to Tesla [prospective] owners in Australia.

Lots of people are receiving the model 3 ahead of schedule by several months, because people cancellations (due to ordering a Model Y). The model Y is still in the first few batches of delivery and there are only a few reports of people receiving them a weeks early, due to early production/shipping. I don't think anyone has received it months early. I don't get the sense that people are cancelling their Model Y orders due to interest rates.

You have to remember that most people who ordered a Tesla several months ago, bought it at a cheaper price and Tesla is honoring the lower price. The price of the Model 3 and Y has gone up 2-5k (when you factor in the mobile charger and premium connectivity). I don't see many people cancelling, just yet.

If 2-5k is reason enough to cancel an order for a vehicle because it's too expensive, then you shouldn't be buying the car in the first place IMO

If 2-5k is reason enough to cancel an order

I meant people wouldn't cancel the order, because they can buy it at the cheaper price and sell for break-even or a profit.

  • Kia EV6 is better.

    • Are the supply wait times comparable?

For something better it's missing autopilot?

        autopilot?

        LOL

      • autopilot

        😂😂😂

Autopilot isn't objectively a feature that everyone wants.

Also if you get a non Tesla car you will actually get a new car and not one that has massive panel gaps and paint issues.

        (ducks for cover)

    Not yet.
If you wanted to cancel for whatever reason - you'd profit massively by receiving and then selling it privately - to the impatient.

I seriously doubt people are cancelling their orders because of "inflation/interest rates etc"

  • What's the going rate for second hand barely used Teslas these days? I reckon ppl would still pay and then immediately sell it's for a neat profit

I heard a work colleague of my wife sold their's for a cool 33k profit. Insanity.

Considering ordering only went live for the model y a month or two ago, I doubt people will be cancelling in mass at this point.
