Product Info
Polar Wash is the second stage in Autoglym's three stage Polar range cleaning process. Designed for use after the Polar Blast pre-wash, Polar Wash is a highly foaming car wash that helps remove dirt, road grim and built up contaminant layers. Suitable for use with a foam cannon and home pressure washer, Polar Wash covers your vehicle in a thick blanket of foam, perfect for lifting contaminant particles away from your painted surfaces to reduce swirl marks.

Whilst capable of providing a touchless wash on lightly soiled vehicles, its a good idea to agitate this cleaner with a soft sponge or wash mitt to ensure best results. Polar Wash is gentle so won't remove Extra Gloss Protection, waxes or sealants.

Top Tip:Follow up with Autoglym Polar Seal for a protective, hydrophobic coating.

Please Note: Polar Wash is not suitable for use on soft top convertibles

How To Use:

Before you start, check that the bodywork and wheels are cool to the touch and out of direct sunlight.
We recommend a pre-wash with Polar Blast to gently loosen dirt. If not, rinse first with water to loosen heavy contamination.
Polar Wash can be used at various dilutions depending on the density of foam desired. However, we would not recommend using a dilution stronger than 50:50. Adjust foam gun settings as required to increase or reduce foam. 250ml of mixed solution should be enough to cover an average sized car.
Spray Polar Wash onto the vehicle, starting at the bottom, ensuring all exterior surfaces are covered, including glass and wheels.
The cleaner will begin to loosen dirt on all surfaces. For the most thorough clean we recommend agitating the foam with a sponge or wash mitt.
Rinse thoroughly from the bottom up and dry.
FAQ's

Q: How is Polar Wash different from Pressure Wash?

A: Polar Wash replaces Pressure Wash, our previous pressure washer shampoo. The formulation has been reformulated and is stronger than its predecessor.

Q: How is Polar Wash different to Polar Blast?

A: Polar Blast is a Pre-Wash product that aids the removal of heavy dirt from the paintwork. It gently loosens and softens contaminants and does not require agitation. Polar Wash is the next stage of the process – the shampoo. It has more cleaning power that can get to work on removing traffic film once Polar Blast has removed the larger particles of contamination.

Q: Is Polar Wash pH neutral?

A: No it isn’t. However it will not remove Extra Gloss Protection, Waxes or sealants; such as Carbon Shield.

Q: Can Polar Wash be used neat or does it need to be diluted?

A: Yes it can be used neat. However we would recommend a 50:50 dilution rate for the best results. It is up to the user to find a dilution the best works for them.

Q: Can Polar Wash be added to the reservoir in my Jet Wash?

A: Yes. However, it is worth highlighting that the level of foam will be dependent on the performance and flow rates of the pressure washer and water hardness. The 50:50 product/water mix advised for a bottle foamer is also a good starting point for a reservoir.

Q: Is Polar Wash High Foaming?

A: Yes, it is a high foaming product that allows the user to see where they have agitated the product to minimise chances of ‘missing a bit’. However, although this product has greater cleaning power, its foam does not have the density and cling time of our pre-wash product - Polar Blast.

Q: Is Polar Wash a touchless wash shampoo

A: It can perform a touchless clean on very lightly soiled and well maintained vehicles. However, for stubborn dirt and traffic film we advise agitation with a wash mitt or sponge.

Q: Does Polar Wash need to be used through a pressure washer?

A: Polar Wash has been designed specifically for use through a pressure washer. We would recommend our other shampoos for hand washing methods.

Q: Is a foaming lance required to use Polar Wash?

A: We would strongly recommend the use of a foaming lance or foamer bottle in conjunction with a pressure washer to create the optimum foam levels.

  • Anyone know how this compares to the Bowden's equivalent?

    • +4

I've found Bowden's products to be superior to most offerings on the market - their R&D is a continual process and they're always updating the formulas used in their products. There are very few exceptions but over time, most of the chemicals I've used have been replaced by Bowden's products.

A lot of the other products (Meguiars, Autoglym) I've found update formulas much less often, and seem to be more of a set-and-forget approach. Brilliant products when first released, but better technology inevitably becomes available.

    • -1

I used to use autoglym before I started getting sample bottles of the Bowen's stuff free. Always rated the autoglym and still use the glass polish.
If I could get both free, autoglym

      • In the order of greatness, my top three:
        1. Meguiars
        2. Autoglym
        3. Mothers

  • cheers mate, I like their other products so keen to see how this shapes up vs whatever the heck it is I presently use

    WTF?

    • Yeah right. So there's a 2 step foam wash? Seems a bit overkill… Not in the spirit of ozbargain

    • Yeh getting a ceramic coat and saw the first bit that said not pH neutral and then saw it said it was after..?!

    • Read that as well, and decided I wouldn't bother. Wasn't going to risk it. Was tempted to give it a go of it was pH neutral

I am trying to get into washing my car instead of car washes. I dont have a pressure washer, so was only doing handwash but i dont have much items yet for that either. Do people recommend getting a pressure washer and this or just get some items for hand wash?

    • +3

Definitely get a pressure washer, makes it that much easier. Keep an eye out for Karcher K2 sales at Super Cheap.

    • +3

Investing in a pressure washer is a good idea, and you could match it with a snow cannon off ebay.
I find it easier to clean and definitely more fun

      • Ok will keep an eye out for them then. Never used one before, is it easy to set up with the mixture etc?

        • Yep, for Bowden's one you just put 1 part snow foam with 9 parts water into the foam cannon bottle and give it a mix. If you've got a smaller car you can decrease the amount of snow foam you use but you'll get an understanding after doing it a few times.

    • +1

When I had time to wash my car. I used a pressure washer to soak my car with foam then a two bucket system with strainer on the 2nd bucket. Nowadays I use the brush less car wash at my local car wash. Instant wax it after then clean the tires. Save my energy and time

  • +1

Get a pressure washer for sure. You can blast it just with water sometimes and can look good in between proper washes.
High pressure washers also use less water compared to garden hose.

    • Not sure leaving water droplets on the car surface is good between washes as it could cause damages to the clearcoat too.

It's called water spots. But yeah if you have potective layer on top off clearcoat then yeah it can be doable.

      • You can dry off with bowden cloth too

  • damn this is cheaper/qty than the meguairs

  • got last one thanks

  • Damn, all gone just as I tried to get one in despite the page still saying 4 left..

    • In stockes, but price has gone up to 37
