Virgin Big Plan

Hey,

Anybody else out there that signed up to the Virgin Big Plan cap with the bonus 2gb data finding that their download speeds have been throttled?

I got the Galaxy s3 on the Big Plan $29 cap and I'm finding that with every speedtest I'm failing to get over anything over 900kbps. I used to be able to get around 3-6mbps at my house over the network on my old Galaxy S.

Just trying to isolate whether it's because of some kind of setting on my phone, some speed cap in my contract or just due to the sheer number of people that may have moved over to Virgin over the past weeks.

    I've had this plan for a week, although I bought a iPhone 4gs, and put the virgin sim in my iPad… No speed issues yet!

        Ah ok, I'm from Brisbane so it might not help, thanks anyway though!

        Speedtest is an app that you can get from the app store or the play store that tests your download and upload speeds either on 3g or on wifi.

    When I signed up to this plan, I asked why it was such a good deal. The Virgin staff told me if was because of something Virgin did last month… Something misleading??? I'm not sure! Anyone know?

    Haha not sure. Either way I've fixed the issue. My old phone used the Optus APN settings whereas my new phone uses the default Virgin APN settings. I've changed the settings on the new phone to the Optus settings and now I'm getting the same speeds as I used to.

      i spent half a day trying to use VirginBroadband as the apn, then tried VirginInternet. should have seen the smile on my face when it worked!
