Kitbag Apply Their Own Australia Tax

Tried to place an order with 'Kitbag' this week to take advantage of their 10% off Everything sale.
When all the items were in the cart however, the prices did not reflect the deduction of the VAT + the 10% discount.
After a week of phone calls and emails, the response has been that "The prices are being calculated based on the 10% pricing increase for sales to Australia ….. So we are not adding VAT, we are exercising our right to charge different prices depending on destination."

They also said that some of the items I had selected were not included in the 10% off deal - so 'Everything' actually means 'Nearly Everything' or 'Some'.

Ive been ordering significant amounts from kitbag over the years, but obviously I now need to find a different store.
Any suggestions ?

I dont know what you are buying but I normally get my soccer boots and playing kit from Lovell Soccer in the UK. They took off the VAT, didnt add any GST and gave free embroidery if you want your initials and shirt number embroidered onto the side of your boots. My current model AdiPower Predators were way less than a half of what Rebel Sport was charging here and I had my initials on the side!

    • how long does it take for delivery from Lovell?

I think mine was 2 weeks from memory. I bought during pre season so I wasnt desperate. I think it took so long because of the embroidery, they did warn me in an email that boots had to be sent somewhere else for embroidery so it added time to the process. If you arent buying anything that needs to be personalised, I wouldnt think it would take that long.

  • I would recommend Subside Sports Australia. They have a wider range of football shirts than Kitbag, are Australian owned, prices in Aussie dollars and your money stays here in the Australian economy.
They have a small shop in Sydney, but most of the products are at their on-line store. www.subside.com.au

Why should we care which economy our money ends up in? You can look at this from many angles: Self, immediate family, peer group, social group, suburb, city, state, nation, continent, planet or galaxy. Why the focus at the national level?

With Australia having such a strong economy why not support another weaker one? After all we are all human.

  • Yeh point taken, but I don't beleive that the UK economy needs our direct support. Don't complain about the loss of retail jobs in Oz or if our schools, healthcare, roads etc deteriorate whilst your paying UK tax (VAT) and denying our economy it's GST!

    • I won't. We are the lucky country.

I use both of those with delivery about 10 days.

    • I do recommend prodirect
