Is This a Good Deal? Legion 5i Pro Gen 7 16" (Storm Grey) - $2949 (35% off)

Hey everyone,

I am considering purchasing this gaming laptop

$2,949 instead of $4,599

It is in my budget and seems to tick all the boxes for a correct gaming laptop?
Is there anything I should be aware of? Like is there going to be a new (better) model soon? etc…?

Thanks!

Josh

Thanks mate, I was initially going to use the Shopback 5.5%.
Saw your message and signed up to Cashrewards, placed my purchase yesterday evening, and I confirm I got the 15% cashback! This is like a massive discount :-)

        • No worries mate great to hear that worked!

This Gen 7 model has only recently been released and has the latest CPU and GPU. No new model will be releasing any time soon other than the Gen 7 for the Legion 7 range which will cost $500-$1000 more.

I think you have made a fine choice if you proceed. If you do, make sure you use Cashrewards which has 15% cashback at the moment.

  • Awesome, I am convinced!

Thank you both for your help :-)

I just recently purchased the same model from Lenovo Ebay during a recent 20% sale and I am very happy with its build and performance. At first I was concerned that the Legion 5i Pro would be bulky and thick. Turns out it has slimmed down a little from Gen 6. Also the angled profile made it appear thinner than it is. The whole laptop case/chassis seems to be made out of aluminium and magnesium. Although the keyboard deck feels like plastic but it does have a quality finish. The keyboard is a joy to type on! Touchpad is definitely plastic but is smooth like glass.

Performance and thermals have been excellent. I was able to get decent frame rates while gaming in Balanced mode and the fans aren't really noticeable at all. In balanced mode, the GPU draws around 110-115W and temps ranges around 68-72C. The CPU stays cool at around 64-70C throughout. And in case you wonder, the GPU can reach 150W max TGP in Performance mode but fan noise becomes more apparent and temps reaching higher. IIRC mine ranges around 80-82C. Still beats my older Zephyrus which screams like a jet and temps reaching 95-98C (both CPU and GPU).

    • Thanks for sharing Dave!
I confirmed I purchased it yesterday, can't wait to receive it :-)
