iPad and Samsung Tablet Help Please

I have an iPad Air, so many years old. Still going but no longer able to download apps etc and it’s just at the end of its time.
I have so much stored on my iPad, all my notes from years and photos etc.
So if I got another iPad I imagine they would just transfer over.

But my phone is Samsung and I want everything to sync ( photos etc ) to tablet when I travel, especially as I like to blog. So I’m pretty sure that would happen if I got a Samsung tablet. So Samsung phone and tablet would be easy.

However if I got a Samsung tablet, would my iPad stuff transfer over to that ?

I’m thinking not, so how would I get my notes etc?

I used to have an iPhone when I got the iPad, but I wasn’t prepared to pay the price for a new iPhone when that died so got Samsung.
Now I have this issue. Yes I wished I’d just got another iPhone now but too late.

Any help figuring this out is hugely appreciated.
Thank you.

Google "smartswitch app" and prepare to have your mind blown.

    • ** mind blown **

2 incompatible and different ecosystems Android and IOS. Not easy (or even possible for most apps) to synch between the 2.
There will be ways to transfer things, but you are likely to need iCloud synch and a lot of time to search out the best ways to do it.
Sounds like you may need to choose one or the other if you wish to continue to synch between phone and tablet

    • Oh yes I am happy to buy the Samsung tablet so I can sync my phone.

But I have the problem of getting my stuff off my iPad to transfer to the Samsung tablet.

  • I have both, and use Onedrive for backups etc. I use the Ipad mainly for Music, otherwise I'd have a Galaxy tablet.

Smartswitch is a very useful app for transferring data, as mentioned above.

Thank you. I tried to thank the above poster, keeps going on to the wrong poster though for some reason.argh….

I will use smartswitch, I think that’s going to be the easiest thing for me to figure out.

Now I just have to figure out which galaxy tablet and cheapest place to buy from lol.

    Thanks again.

  • My suggestion is to take a good hard look at what both pads provide before making a decision and then go with whatever provides you with what you want. My iphone acts as a hot spot for my iPad but I'm pretty sure I could use an android phone instead. However, the reason I still have an iPhone is because I need it for my Apple watch. Right now my phone is a support device for my other Apple products.

My advice is to spend money on your tablet. Get the best tablet you can get. E.g. iPad Pro. And get the cheapest usable phone you can get. Even a 2nd hand iPhone XR or 11 would still be fine. Expensive phones are a waste of money in my opinion. I use my phone for Google Maps, and taking phone calls occasionally. For everything else I use my tablet.

You can use your phone's Hotspot to provide Wifi to your tablet if you need.

  • I like iPhones but also use a Samsung tablet. You won’t go wrong with hardware from either brand. But I do find Apple better for long term software updates and support. Which is another reason I like their products. Most of my friends have iPhones, which also makes group texting much better.

iPhones and Samsung phones are similar pricing these days. I’ve also found iPhones hold value better, so if you upgrade every 2 years. The out of pocket cost isn’t that bad.

There are apps which also assist in transitioning between the 2 platforms.

    • I bought a cheap Samsung tablet, you can go wrong. I would buy a more expensive one if I knew.

  • I used to love Ipad's however took my old ones to family members and theyy cant download anything anymore. So maybe Samsung ones are worth a try
