Removalist Sydney Apartment Recommendations

Hello OzBargainers,

In a few weeks we’ll be moving to a new apartment around 2km from where we are.

We are planning to hire a removalist and wondering if anyone has any recommendations?

We hope to use then for the big items such as fridge, washing machine, beds, bookcases etc. We plan to move little things that can fit in our car by ourselves to save some money.

Any help is much appreciated!

    Hi

If you are moving by an apartment ensure you book a space council permit if required to park the truck, elevator use or block off to one floor
I will PM you the number i used before

    • your Personal message isn't open

      • Have opened messages.

This is a very good point that we’ll look into. There is free 2hr parking right outside the apartment

Put as much as you can into boxes and get them to just load them instead of you doing lots if car trips. It wont cost much for them to just take some boxes as part of their load.

I saw a reddit thread in Sydney recoomend this company once. Haven't tried them myself but will likely need to do the same thing at some point soon:

    Men that move.

Just had a look at them. They look very professional. Quoted at $180/hr with a min of three hours for two men and a truck.

2kms? Carry & walk the white goods to your new home, Timmy - that's what a bona fide OzBargainer would do!

Part of me wants to do this … but the amount of stairs scare my punny arms

      • You know it's spelt puny, Timmy.

You wouldn't happen to be underweight for your height now, huh Timmy?

Hey mate I’ve recently moved and used https://www.southsideremovals.com.au/ they were awesome.

Milk crates are great for moving short distances. A true OzBargainer would have no trouble finding lots of free ones.

Used these guys a number of times to move apartment and always had good experience.

They bring you reusable containers in two different sizes, then collect them when you've unpacked. It makes the move so much easier.

Steer very clear away from these guys - https://www.aaacityremovalist.com.au/

I'm convinced that most of their reviews are fake. My experience with them was awful and I was charged over $1k to move from a 2 bedroom apartment to a house in the same suburb. It was ridiculous and one of the worst experiences I've ever had with so called 'professionals'.

Anyway, long story, but just don't want anyone else having to go through it.

  • I have moved about 22km in Sydney with a word of mouth recommended removalist Michael. They were very professional and very affordable $160 (per an hour), with no hidden fees for stairs or long driveway etc etc. We are preparing to book with him again for our next move. He let my partner help out with some furniture etc, and they finished up earlier than expected as a result.

He was recommended by a friend and a bit old school, so no online presence. I can DM you his number - let me know!

    • Hi, I'm looking for a removalist - can you please DM me Michael's details?

Don't use grace… they will quote one price before the move then once you are desperate on the day will turn up and demand 30% more to complete the job..

  • I found someone off Airtasker.
