What does a spicy banana taste like? Is it slightly rancid and fizzy, or dipped in chilli powder/flakes?

    • +4

What does a spicy banana taste like?

      maybe ask your wife first?

      • That's creamy banana, no?

        • but did you ask?

          • @ntt: “Hey, does my 🍆 taste like beer?”

Hope it’s not ‘er dinger-ling, that’d be awkward.

Top notch beer…….. VB, Carlton, Furphy etc can't even compete with this!!!

    • +11

I don't think VB, Carlton, Furphy drinkers will agree. It's so totally different to those and I would say most of those drinkers won't appreciate it.

Personally I love almost all German beers. And it's amazing we can buy quality German beer over here cheaper than domestic beer. Makes no sense to me but not complaining!

      • Which German beer is cheaper than local beers?

      • +2

I've made many VB, Carlton drinkers etc to try this beer and converted them……

    • +1

Thanks, I'll take your words and try it!

$47.40 for 12 at Dan Murphys NSW = $3.95 each

    • +2

That's fine if you want an entire case of the stuff.

      • +1

last I looked weissbier was considered a fresh beer and should be consumed before its expiry date.

    • It's $7.19 each at Dan's. So much cheaper at Aldi.

    • +1

$68.99 for me here in SA :( And yeah, I want a whole case of the stuff this is my favourite beer!

  • +3

4$ for 1 bottle or carton? They are like 40ct in Germany

    • +7

      Plus airfares….

    • +9

Nothing like grabbing a roadie or two for 80 euro cents at the train station on your way through. Too bad we have limited freedoms here.

      • It's not so much the limited freedoms that annoy me, it's more the absolute raping we get in taxation on alcohol over here.
The limited freedom sucks too though, for sure.

    • +3

      Sternburg was 30-40cents.
This beer was 80-1.50 back in 2012.

      • Cheaper than water.

    • $1.38 these days, but only if you buy a whole crate

    • +1

Having grown up in that period in Germany and having travelled recently. No more 40 cent. But even at but even at double that still so much cheaper. And yeah , grab them at the petrol pump or news shop and enjoy anywhere. No nanny state rules.

    • +1

This means nothing. Duvel, my favourite beer, costs $1 in Belgium and it's over $6 here if you buy a 24 pack. If you just one 1, it's usually a lot more than that.

      • Strong Belgian beers with Aus prices, sad

  • Anyone know how to get this in qld?? :(

    • +6

Drive to Tweed Heads.. We call it the moonshine run 😅

      • +3

Perhaps he needs a Trans-Am and a semi

        • +1

And a flying nun to keep you warm

        • +2

Admitting to knowing what this is in reference to will really show peoples' ages.

        • +1

He gonna do what they say can't be done.

  • +6

Seeing this makes me so frustrated that Qld laws prevent aldi from selling liquor here

    • +2

      cries in SA solidarity

    • I grew up in Qld and found it a great place to leave. y'no - Police State Lawn Order'n'all …

  • Hell of a deal…

  • Tastes like heaven

  • FYI Dan has this for same price for case of 12. Member price $47.40.

  • They've got Budvar on special too for lager fans. Decent lager, but a b-grade Pilsner Urquell imo.

    • +1

I actually prefer Budvar over Urquell but both are lovely lagers.

      • +1

Yeah, both are good pilseners. I tend to like more bitter beers so it's Urquell for me. I'm happy enough to drink Budvar if it's on special and cheaper than Urquell though.

  • Bought 12! Gonna go back for more, can't carry too much in one go.

  • Has anyone found these at aldi yet? I looked at two stores this arvo and neither had it yet. Is the date/freshness good on them if so?

    • +1

Plenty at the Canberra City store. Best before April 2023.

      • Excellent. That's nice and fresh for a German beer over here. Thanks.

      • Which one? About to step out with my trailer

    • There were only four bottles left in my local by 3pm yesterday. Obviously I took them all.

  • What! Was at ALDI today and didn't spot these.

  • erdinger not showing up in stock check at my local Aldi - https://www.stockcheck.aldi.com.au/

    • I would not trust the aldi website.

  • got it ! - wasn't expecting as I didn't find it with stock search for my local Aldi - but went for general shopping today and went into Aldi for 2kg chicken wings (those babies crisp up goood in the fan-forced oven or air fryer)

and lo - there was the Erdinger - I forget whether it was my favourite or second favourite compared to Schneider Weisse when I stayed in Munich for 9 months - but anyhoo prob $6-7 before, now $4 - I bought a carton of 12 for $48 - put one in the freezer and set alarm for 90 mins - and "burp" - I'm enjoying one now !

    • I put one in the freezer and didn't set an alarm and *f**k* I'm cleaning the freezer now.

    • -1

Pro tip… Wet a paper towel and wrap it around the beer. 10 mins in the freezer and boom, you have yourself a nice cold beer 😎

  • Grabbed three. Haven’t drunk beer in ages but couldn’t resist this at this great price, one of my all-time favourites.

I mean, yeah, they’re ~€1.50 in German shops but 1lt is ~€12 at Oktoberfest, so no complaints (albeit brewery fresh/preservative free at Oktoberfest is worth every cent).
