Office chair

I am lucky enough to be able to work from home often. The only downside to this is that the $99 Officeworks special that I've had for 5 years or so is extremely uncomfortable for anything longer that a couple of hours. As I am working from home, I figure I can probably claim the chair on tax if I buy before the end of June.

I am thinking of a budget of sub $400 ish so it probably rules out any carbon fibre Scandinavian works of art. Fashion/design play a far distant second to comfort for me if that is even applicable at my price range.

  • Why not treat yourself with one of these?

  • Find one of them used on eBay for like $200.. Keep your eye pealed..

  • I bought a chair from these guys (http://www.highwayoffice.com.au/index.php?cPath=22_36_30) 4 years ago and it's still going strong - very ergonomic and comfortable. I sit in it about 3-7 hours per day, 7 days per week. Just flipped it over and the model name is "Bach" which doesn't seem to be on their website any more, unfortunately. I'd buy another one when this one eventually wears out.

The biggest problem for you, of course, is that Campbellfield is a very long way from Berwick so hopefully you find something closer for your convenience.

OK, I have found myself a brand new Haworth Zody chair from a failed business start up for $275, picking it up tomorrow night. The Herman Miller looked good as did something called an ergohuman and a couple from MilanDirect but the Zody got great write ups, mesh seat chairs I have sat in previously always felt really hard and I reckon I've found a great deal to boot. I'll post details about the deal tomorrow if it all goes well.

OK, found an advert on Gumtree from a business that had bought some Haworth Zody chairs and then found they didnt need them all. Rang them up and arranged to buy one. Picked one up tonight, absolutely perfect, brand new and $275, sitting in it as I type this up. I watched the videos on the Haworth website to set it up and very comfortable so far. It has a mesh back and a fabric padded seat. It has the 4D arms and the full lumbar support but no headrest, I'll have to look around and see if you can buy an add on headrest on the net. An award winning ergo chair currently selling online for about $1K, for $275, I reckon that is a bargain!

The seller is in Melbourne if anybody else wants to look on Gumtree and search for zody. The guy told me they have 5 or 6 left.
