All 25 episodes of the anime adaptation of Kentarou Miura's manga, directed by Naohito Takahashi. Aptly named, Guts (voice of Nobutoshi Canna) was birthed from the corpse of his mother and finds the battlefield to be his only means of survival.   One of the most shocking ending I have ever seen………………..I just cant relive that again…………..

  By the way whats the different between 2016 and 1997 series? I only saw the 1997 series

    The ending was truncated at the time, its not that shocking, could of been worse.

    The artwork is for the collector's edition, this is not the collectors ed.

    2016 series follows different events after the golden age arc. The animation wasnt that well received either but I still enjoyed it overall.

    There was also 3 movies that came out that re-tell the 1997 series. Animation for that wasnt as well received either.

      I saw the 3 movies and didn't like it a bit, I wonder why they bothered at all, should just continue the story where 1997 left off.

      Probably wont watch the 2016 series now i googled it.

        Berserk is cursed at this point lol. It's possible though that once the manga ends another studio might give it a shot.

        I loved the 3 movies, loved the 1997 series, and couldn't stand the 2016 series.

        Really hope they one day do a proper version of it. I saw the 2016 series when it first came out (they tried to fix some of the animation for the bluray release) and man… it was such a low budget affair.

    2016 is a sequel but like most people I recommend to not bother and just read the manga or nothing at all. The animation and visuals for the 2016 show were god awful, some people might tolerate it but I certainly couldn't. Compare it to the incredible art of the manga and it just seems like a joke.
