You Only Get ONE 10% off Shop Per Month at Woolworths

For those who don't realise, it doesn't matter how many Woolworths branded products you buy that offer a 10% off shop once a month at Woolworths, you only get ONE 10% off shop each month.

I admit it. I didn't read the terms and conditions closely enough. I signed up for a Woolworths Mobile 5G phone plan that was really only a good price if you took into account the offer of a 10% off shop once a month at Woolies. Its not hard to do a $150 shop once a month to effectively reduce a $59 plan to $44. Then I saw all the other plans, even the cheapest, had the same deal. So I thought I could get a virtually free second phone plan by signing up to the cheapest plan, gifting data to it from the main plan, and covering the cost with ANOTHER 10% off shop at Woolies once a month.

Then later when I looked to see what the 10% off shop did NOT include, there in the terms and conditions was one that said you only get ONE 10% off shop each month, no matter how many Woolworths products you've signed up to that include that.

Its a perverse way to run a "loyalty program". To reward you if you buy one product. Then not provide any more reward no matter how many more you buy.

You can sign up for other products that give you 10% in a partner/child/pet's name though for multiple 10% offs though!

    • Yes, I only thought of that trick AFTERWARDS.

No need to sign up in other people's names, you can just add their Rewards Card number to the account instead. That's what I do x4.

        • Does this mean I can use the same (legal) ID, but under different emails to get this to work?

          Thanks

Well because some people will join 20 of them and then …..

You can apparently get 10% twice a month (although I haven't tried) - one in-store and one online.

have to do online first, before in-store

      • This month I fid one account online first and got 10% off in store subsequently, but didn’t work on another shop where I shopped in store first (couldn’t apply 10% to subsequent online shop.

    • yes….I have been doing that for a year now

      • How?
So if u used it in store then you won’t find the 10% off option in online click n collect orders?

        • You have to use code eg sept22

        • I use it online first…and later in the month when I am instore they say "would you like your 10% off today?"…..yes please… It has been like that for over a year….

        • Oh damn that explains! I did an online order and now no pick up. So annoying, I gotta wait a month now. Good tip, thanks

    • ok i need to give this a try… does click and collect count as online?

  • Max limit of 50.

    So 500 dollars.

    No gift cards right

    • Interesting, I've previously used the discount code on an order above $500.

      • but did they give you more than $50 discount then?

Should be allowed to sign up for 11 products and get 110% off. 💰 This way they'll give 10% of the value of your shop back as change. Then goto the servo after with a stack of 50 4c/l dockets and get paid to fill up.

Sounds like an episode of Extreme Cheapskates when the coupons take a massive shopping trolley of products back to near zero!

  • Sometimes can get two 10% off one online and once in store shopping!

  • Woolies Rewards accounts are free.

Unlink the second phone and attach to a new Rewards account?

  • I didn't know this. Was considering doing it. So this post is very useful. Thanks. 🙂

  • does the monthly 10% off reset at the start of each calendar month? or do you have to wait 30 days after the last 10% off redemption?

    • Calendar, ie. 1st of each month.

      • Thanks

Another day another post where OP thinks the system works one way, but in fact works another, then blames someone for that misunderstanding.

Have you tried signing up a second reward account and then link that to the second service? Then you get 10% a second/forth time.

"I admit it. I didn't read the terms and conditions closely enough." Sounds like OP is taking ownership, not blaming someone.

  • I need to get a phone plan for my son and after a quick look this looks like the best option with the 10% off one shop. Link it to my rewards card and basically pay for his plan with the once a month shop.

In regards to reception Telstra is the best in reception here although it only works for maybe 2 thirds of Wellington Shire at best. Optus, Aldi, Southern all lose service well before telstra and others like Kogan which my wife got for my son was a complete waste of money.

My question is to people who live outside of Melbourne in regional Vic that have a Woolworths plan ( using telstra towers doesn't automatically mean they have the same reception as Telstra).

What is your genuine reception like as we all know those coverage maps that the telcos put out are not evenly remotely true.

  • Regional Qld (yeah the boondocks) and I have no problem at all with Woolworths prepaid I have. I have also signed up to the woolworths everyday plus which is $7 a month. I signed up for that on my husbands card and have the prepaid on my card but again like the OP I didn't read the details and it seems with the everyday plus you can have both on the same card and get two 10% off but it is of no consequence to me as I often alternate the cards. If you use one card all the time the offers get worse so then I use the other card for awhile until the offers improve.

I can confirm that you get one instore and one online on both cards and the added bonus of the everyday rewards plus is that you get 10% off big W which will come in handy around Christmas. I only have a $20/ month prepaid because I use the home wifi so don't need much data and it works out that they pay me for having my mobile plan with them.

Where I live we only have Woolworths and Coles so none of the other shopping options and when you shop for a family the discounts make a big difference.

  • As a senior I can buy Wish Gift cards at 5% off'
When I do my Woolies shopping I pay with these so have a total saving of 15% off :)
