Telstra Prepaid - Receiving SMS Overseas (without Wi-Fi)

Has anyone on Telstra prepaid been able to receive SMS while overseas, without wifi connection? My understanding is that receiving SMS overseas is no longer possible after Telstra ended international roaming for prepaid services a while ago, but you can still receive SMS over wifi.

However, things may have changed coming towards late 2022. I am planning to travel to Europe so was wondering if anyone on Telstra prepaid has recently received SMS overseas, even when there is no wifi connection? If so, which countries were you in?

      I came across this too, but wasn't sure if this was simply receiving SMS on wifi.

      so can you receive sms on boost prepaid without roaming charges

    SMS would only work on cellular

    iMessage though, would work on wifi

    Came back from Europe (UK and Spain) this week. My wife and I could only receive SMS messages to our Telstra prepaid numbers (esim) when connected to WiFi.
    We also had physical sims from simsdirect for use in Europe (when not connected to WiFi).

      Was that iphone "imessage" text messages or good old fashioned sms text messages on android phones?

    they charge a HUGE fee now for every text roamed!
