Cat Boarding/Hotel in Sydney (within 1 Hour Drive) - Recommendations Needed

Hi,

I am looking for a good cat boarding facility/service in Sydney, preferably not too far from the inner west area within 1-hour drive. Would appreciate if anyone could share their experience/recommendation:

My requirements are as follow:

1) Reasonably large cage/sleeping area (as opposed to those prison-style boarding cages)
2) Cats get play time daily
3) They would provide pictures or updates on our cat for peace of mind.
4) Responsive (answering queries, providing updates etc)

Long story short, all comes down to the level of care, budget-wise my research tells me that the market price is about $40 per day thus would expect something around this range.

I am leaning towards family-run business instead of a large corporate chain as my educated(or uneducated) impression of the larger chain may not be able to provide the level of care that a smaller business could. We are planning a year-end trip in December and are likely to be out of the country for 2 weeks.

I have had a read at this website:

Having never been to any of them, I would really appreciate any feedback on their services, level of care etc.

I would recommend keeping the cat at home and getting a cat sitter to visit daily or twice daily. Cat will be a lot less stressed and it is one less thing you have to do when leaving and coming home (picking up and dropping off).

    • Thanks for your recommendation; however, we are not entirely comfortable having a stranger dropping by and thus would still prefer a cat boarding service.

I’d reach out to people you know if possible. I haven’t had a cat but a dog and he had the greatest times when our friends would visit to house sit. I’ve also house sat for people with cats who were quite fond of me and even more so my husband. The familiar environment is worth a lot to your furry friend.

Maybe get someone you trust to housesit for you rent/bill free. Will still be cheaper than $40 a day and your cat will probably feel less stressed.

That is what I thought until I found someone through Paw Shake. Police clearances and she visited with my cat twice a day and spent some time with her. I think it worked out to $40 per day.

+1 on this. I normally try to get friends or family to cat sit whilst I’m away. The cats are much happier when staying at their own place.
