Looking for Help with HP Envy 360 15-ew0013TXHP $2169 Laptop

Hey OzB brains trust! Hoping those who know more about laptops than I do (that's pretty much everyone) can give their opinion on this HP laptop my other half is looking at buying

It's the HP Envy 360 15-ew0013TX currently on sale on the HP website for $2169.

Does it seem like good value? Are you aware or any similar units that you'd recommend?

Should also add this is second choice.

Appreciate any advice or opinions!

Edited to add what it will be used for: It'll be used for everyday life stuff, editing photos and videos from an SLR camera, YouTube etc, no gaming or anything that I think would be asking too much of a laptop to do.

Bonus points to anyone who knows where we could get it cheaper (wishful thinking I think haha)

Thank you so so much in advance!

Usual question to start with as it is not in the post:

What are you going to use it for?

  • The cheaper version makes a lot more sense.

GPU - The 2050 is going to provide pretty minimal gaming, it is a gonked version of the 3050. If you want to game, buy a gaming laptop or desktop.
CPU - 300mhz difference, same number of cores. The GPU is better in the i7 but that doesn't matter because it has a dedicated one. Pointless upgrade.
Storage - 512GB vs 1TB, not a huge difference. You could go buy a 2TB one for <$200

All that costs $700. Unless you really have a use case for a dedicated GPU, I'd save the $700.

    to be used for…..?

  • So sorry i should have added, it'll be used for everyday life stuff, editing photos and videos from an SLR camera, YouTube etc, no gaming or anything that I think would be asking too much of a laptop to do.

Thanks for any input, i really do appreciate it :)

  • editing photos and videos from an SLR camera

    Using?

My old Clevo laptop would likely manage those needs (I actually do some gaming on mine also), and it cost me half the price of that Envy, and that was 9 years ago. CPU is holding it back on intenstive games of Supreme Commander, but apart from that it's still a capable machine.

So are you seeking positive reinforcement of spending $2k on an Envy, or after a suitable bargain? There's plenty of capable refurbished units around, like this ASUS unit from Amazon or have a look at these units from Australian Computer Traders. Only issue is finding one with a dedicated GPU, if that is a hard requirement.
