What Is OzBargain's Most Recommended Pressure Washer and Why ?

Apologies for yet another pressure washer post but I am just not getting anywhere in deciding a proper pressure washer.
My budget is up to $500.00, and I want something that's really good quality, hassle free and long lasting.

In most categories, there's always OzBargain preferred one so in pressure washer category, which one is it?

Use case: Mostly to clean outer walls, concrete floors and maybe car.

You might want to run a search before posting about pressure washers

    • Spring cleaning

    • I already went through that post and numerous others. Specifically about that post, if you go through the replies, its mostly people saying, "I have got this product and my experience with it was blah blah blah" but there's no one brand or product type which was highly mentioned which is why I am still unsure which one should I go with. Common names you will find are gerni, karcher, Ryobi etc etc. Hence, why I made this post.

    1. Free one if you can somehow
    2. DIY garden hose.
    3. Paid one from store IDK which one
    • I like the Ozbargain'er who found a pressure washer on a hard rubbish collection, made a minor fix, and they've been using it for years. The ultimate recycle

  • I have 2 Karchers, one of them is around 20 years old and still working.

    • Thats one of the common thing I have read here that people who bought the older karcher or gerni models had really good experience but with the newer models they are not as long lasting or reliable.

    Depends on your use case…

The OzB way could be to put your thumb on the hose outlet to increase water pressure.

    • Exactly, use case is important here. As vague as asking "What Is OzBargain's Most Recommended shirt"

      • Updated the post with usecase.

I ended up paying a bit more and going the Full Boar 3200PSI 7HP Petrol Pressure Washer from Bunnings, $99 above your max budget at $599. It was far superior to the AR Blue Clean one I bought back in Master's days and dramatically cut down time. A plus from me.

    • could you please share for what type of cleaning use this pressure washer for ? e.g concrete, car, outer walls etc

      • I used it for all our concrete, so driveways and paths and also all our paved areas, it was removing green moss and dirt etc. It works a lot better than the electric one we had and that really comes down to the power I suppose.

    • seems like an overkill for my basic home use

Look into BAR pressure Washers too, very high quality, fully rebuildable brass pumps (no plastic) we use a couple t work and I rate them above the domestic quality Karcher and Gerni stuff from Bunnings

  • This was exactly what I had as the budget and I ended up decided to get a petrol version… SCA had a special on Karcher 3000psi petrol version for $467 after cashbacks etc.

  • I went through this recently…

I've had a basic Karcher (low end model no more than $150) that has lasted me 12+ years and only recently started leaking. Use it very regularly to wash cars (adequate but having a shorter hose is a pain to manage)… Also used to clean concrete floor - whilst OK, it just took ages and probably what killed it when i used it recently.. I've also used the drain cleaner attachment - worked OK.

Then moving onto my quest on "what's next".

    • Considered Petrol vs Electric - Decided to stay with electric so I dont need to maintain another equipment. I'm slowly moving away from the petrol home gardening equipment as the electric counterparts are improving with time.

    • So my "Must-Haves" are : Longer Hose such that I can walk around my car without needing to move the unit… includes a floor cleaning attachment and next step up better than the current one.

This brought me to compare Gerni vs Karcher… just gut feel and reading online, I have placed my bets on the Gerni (despite having no issues with the previous Karcher)..

Considered between the Gerni 3300, 5000 and 5300… Somehow ended up with the Gerni 5300 bundle… Dont ask me how i decided on this!

    • Thanks for sharing your experience.

How has been your experience with Gerni 5300 so far and how much did you buy it for and from where ?

      • It has been great! Of course, unfair to compare it with the previous entry level Karcher I had.

The Gerni 5300 is a LOT more solid, comes with a longer hose and weighs 18kgs. One of the quirks of the smaller and lighter ones are, with any tug of the stiff hose, it tend to topple the unit over. With this being 18kgs, so far i've not toppled it.

Bought it for $469 from Bunnings.. Couldn't see it anywhere else really. Unsure whether this is one of those items exclusively sold via Bunnings?
