Spintel NBN and Landline

Just a backwards question, does anyone know what a cheap option for a router that will work with spintel nbn and allow landline as well? I am currently with TPG and want to move, but the telephony menus are locked down. I've tried to use the firmware version for my TPlink VR1600v link but it seems I keep getting error code 5403 (possible won't let me downgrade?)

I'm on:
Firmware version: 0.1.0 0.9.1 v5006.0 Build 200810 Rel.53181n

Hardware version: Archer VR1600v v2 00000000

I have a mesh system, so wifi doesn't really matter, it's mainly for the landline

If someone could help recommend a router or if you know how to get su credentials/ install the above firmware, that would be great, thanks for reading all this! So over TPG locking down what we technically paid for

Before someone asks, yes, i do need the landline haha

Hacked Technicolor modems from Telstra https://hack-technicolor.readthedocs.io/en/stable/
List of models (Technicolor model number & Telstra product name) https://hack-technicolor.readthedocs.io/en/stable/Repository…

Find them cheap on eBay & Gumtree.

You can also install a SIP client on an old smartphone and use it to connect to your VoIP service via Wi-Fi, without needing a VoIP-capable router.

yeh perfect, I just spoke to a mate and they're giving me a gen 2 telstra modem, I hope i can figure it out! Thanks for that

      • Make sure it’s the right one. DJA0231 is the Gen 2 model you want.

        • Just picked it up, it's the LH1000. Would this still work?

          • @cheapass88: As a modem yes. Won’t be able to enter VoIP details unfortunately though. (No landline)

            • @kfp187: Oh damn, that was the main reason why I needed it. Thanks for letting me know before i even tried

              • @cheapass88: You could buy the one you need and keep the other one as a booster if you have Ethernet to another part of your home…

                • @kfp187: Yeh thanks, i already have a mesh system. I've decided to get rid of the landline and have a cheap sim as an emergency phone.
