Looking for an 80L+ Wheelbarrow

Spring is in the air and hopefully there will be more home and garden deals going on.

Anyways, I’m keen to seek a good quality wheelbarrow. Any suggestions?

    Looking for an 80L+ Wheelbarrow

    Interesting hobby.

Have you heard about the store called bunnings?

    • Haven’t found a bargain.

  • Go for a metal one… plastic ones break quickly… look to spend 200+

    • I thought metal ones rust easily.

Wash it out after use and it will be fine.

Leave soil with any type of moisture in the tub and it will eventually lead to corrosion.

Go for a galvanized finished over a painted finish and you'll get a good run out of it.

Maybe its that I'm getting old, but when I bought a 4 wheel cart I found it a lot more useful and easier to handle that a (1 wheeled) wheelbarrow. Even emptying it is easier with the tip functionality. Of course if you want to look macho struggling with a wheelbarrow, fair enough, but if you want to do the job easier, and maybe get a woman's help with the yard work, it is definitely something I'd recommend anyone consider.

That said, the plastic one I bought is going to fail earlier than a heavy duty one-wheeled wheelbarrow because the front and rear axles are attached to the plastic tub separately, so the tub is under considerable load on uneven surfaces.

Buying a few times is cheaper than stuffing your back though…👍

    Gorilla Cart 115L.

I've moved two truck load of mulch - still like new.

    • Interesting, didn’t really consider carts. The item is getting good reviews on the Bunnings website

      • I bought two of the 200L poly cart ones for work at a remote school. They took an absolute beating the 18 months I was there and had virtually zero issues. The only 'fault' was that kids removed the handle pin and I replaced with a durable zip tie. I was really impressed with the quality and the build instructions were top notch too, like each section had it's own corresponding pack of small hardware. If you could get a deal on one (or second hand) you'd be winning.

  • What are you looking to spend?
I have two poly tray Stratco, but seems no longer available. The following is closest to it (regular shape, no pourer on mine).
One tray has a small split from moving 20kg wall blocks, but still holds concrete fine.
Have replaced one wheel for a solid tyre, we have three corner jacks.

    .

    • I think budget-wise, I’ll stretch to 200 but wheelbarrow/cart has to have a good discount. I’ll be using it to move topsoil mainly but would look to mix concrete in the future

  • Have a look at secondhand. Wheelbarrows get a hard life, but a decent one should have a lot of life in it.
A full sized wheelbarrow full of dirt is a bit of a heft too, so you are likely to score a slightly used model 😁

  • Go for this one, I can vouch for the quality. Regularly goes on sale so keep your eye on it. Definitely get the steel trayed one over the poly, the handles are much thicker and better stabilising, also supports a bigger and stronger frame than the poly tray one.

You see all the tradies with them so it must mean something.
