Refund on Faulty eBay Purchase after a Few Months Use

I bought an $25 12v DC electric heat pad for one of my dogs from eBay in April. I started using it 3 months ago in June when winter started and it stopped working a couple of days ago.

If had bought from a bricks and mortar store I would expect to take it back for a refund or exchange since it only had 3 months use?

Am I expecting a bit too much for an eBay seller to give me a refund or exchange?

What did the seller say when you messaged them about your issue?

No reply as yet. I suspect they will ignore me and hope I go away.

How does the seller know how much you've used it?

How does the seller know how much you've used it?

How is that at all relevant?

      • OP is suggesting he has had it for eons' but he hasnt used it as part of his 'gimme another one' defense.

        • April vs June. Not exactly a huge difference, so if he was trying to mislead, it's a weird thing to mislead about.

It was bought 5 months ago and first plugged in at the beginning of June. It was used continuously for one of my chihuahuas to keep him warm for the past 3 months. I would have expected a heating pad to last longer than 3 months.

        Get a proper dog

What was the warranty period on the ebay product page you bought the pad from?

  • You have 180 days to lodge a Paypal dispute… Paypal will also refund the returns shipping through their "refunded returns" program, requires activation…

I got a same issue with Sony earphones deal, left side of earphone no longer working, bought em for $8 on their eBay (that cost $54 rn)

They send me a return label etc, But i strongly doubt they are actually going to issue me replacement as I want them to, and instead they would just give me bogus excuse saying they don't have stock later for replacement, or some other random BS. Sony's CS is total garbage too.

eBay support is useless after the 30 day return window.

who knows what the heck is sony gonna do, might just as well look to buy same item from a big retailer and claim warranty from that receipt for a refund instead. Sony will be the ultimate one to pay (retailer or me) regardless, only difference being my experience of warranty process.

I'd start by asking the dog what happened. You might find they were playing around with the settings.

Only if the dog is a setter.

What's so hard , eBay is three months from date of purchase !
What , you think the warranties forever ?

    • I think eBay are only 1 month. I recently had an issue and they couldn't help. Thankfully I paid with paypal and they sorted it.
